You know that you are in a working bakery when they have a "wanted" sign in the window asking for help coming in at 4 am. A cozy place that smells, looks, and feels like a bakery. Country Batard, croissants, and sandwiches looked fabulous and tasted so much better than anything you can buy at a grocery store. The bread has plenty of fine pores, a wonderful shape with a taste on the lighter, less sour and more wheaty side. The bread was stored after the first day in a plastic bag at room temperature and when toasted was still delicious 5 days later. The croissant was one of the largest and heaviest I ever had and good in taste. That said, I prefer smaller, more buttery and flaky croissants. I apologize for the 4 stars. Compared to grocery store bread this is at least on a 6 star level, but for decades I lived in Europe and compared to those breads, the bread was slightly overbaked and the croissant was missing lamination.

Unfortunately this place which has amazing potential is really missing the mark. The owners need to shut down for a few days and do a deep clean on the whole entire place. There are fingerprints on all glass, debris everywhere, and it’s just very obvious that cleanings and maintenance haven’t been a priority. Good siting under heat lamps at a place that is suppose to be artisanal is crazy.

The place is like under renovation or only opening half the space for some reason and lacks any seating, but the sandwiches were amazing, and a great price! The coffee was fine but the sandwiches are definitely the star. Probably the best focaccia bread I’ve ever had! *UPDATE* went back in November and renovations were done, still a small space and quite crowded, but worth it!

The food is ok for the prices. But this morning is the reason I won't be going back. The young lady checking out was prepping for the day. Right before she dumps the ice, she releases her hair from her ponytail with her bare hands. She doesn't wash her hands. She then dumps the ice bucket into it's container. Still not washing her hands, she serves the customer in from of me, handles his food and money, and is constantly pushing her hair behind her ear. She was a sweet enough girl, but I repulsed at this point. I opted for a premade bagel sandwich vs my regularly heated bialy because I wanted to avoid her touching my food. Maybe some retraining will help, but as a health professional, I know OSHA would have...

Walking by we were drawn In by the smell of fresh baked bread. We asked about one of the loaves on display and the woman (who seemed annoyed by our mere presence) said she didn't think there was any left but went in back to check. Awhile later she came back with the loaf and told us it was $7. While my husband was reaching into his pocket, she turned the tip jar to face us.

By the way, there were no prices listed on the board, except for the bread it stated 'most leaves $5' so we figured we were just getting an extra special loaf of bread.

We were looking forward to what we thought was going to be delicious fresh baked bread, but the bread was tasteless and somewhat stale. It was an unpleasant...
