I grew up eating ice cream from this location. I came home for a visit, felt a little "nostalgic" and stopped for my favorite sundae. NEVER AGAIN will I do that, I'll simply hold on to my childhood memories. The ice cream was good but the service was the best of horrible. The young lady that served us had a heavy accent which I am fine with but she name rude and impatient because 1. I asked for a menu and 2. My Husband, a first time customer, asked questions. She opened the window and without a greeting she said, "what's your order?". When I asked for a menu she childishly rolled her eyes, slammed the window, made a comment (we only know this because woman she made the comment to inside looked at her as she was talking, then looked outside at us). When she came back she gave us the menu, my Husband asked a few questions and she sighed heavily before she answered each of his 3 questions. We place our order, got our ice cream and we left saying, "NEVER again." This is horrible because this a place I grew up supporting. We'd take special trips to this location and the old location that used to be on Ashley Phosphate Rd to enjoy the best ice cream in town and I wanted my Husband to experience the "like family feel" and hospitality we used to experience when I used to visit this location as a kid. Her customer service was everything an employer doesn't want in an employee and it quite embarrassing when I bragged to my Husband about the great customer service we always got at this location. Her service has driven me away and I won't patronize this or any other location anymore in fear of the same service elsewhere. This truly saddens me because what used to be my favorite stop, my most exciting treat and treasured moments with my family when i was a kid are all just memories now. I sincerely desired sharing this location with my 2 children as a part of our trips to Charleston, but that will never happen thanks to the young lady with the unpleasant, non-Southern hospitality.
I gave 2 stars because the ice cream is...
Read moreWe were visiting Charleston and have always wanted to try this place out... we should have just kept driving. They have a menu with so many things that are sooo different from each other for a cafe, it was so confusing; and that is what led to the horror! My husband ordered the shrimp po'boy, I ordered the Reuben, my daughter ordered funnel cakes and cheese fries. We always put everything in the middle of the table and everyone just gets what they want. The po'boy was the most ridiculous looking thing with a mountain of the smallest fried shrimp on bread with 1000island dressing over them. The funnel cake wasn't fried enough so it was doughy. When the Reuben came out it looked 🤷🏻♀️.. We thought there was a funny look because the cheese was oozing out of it and there was an extra piece of bread in the middle but it was soo super soggy. I took a small bite and immediately realized these people had no clue what they were doing! My husband and daughter tried a small bite ,I didn't say anything about the taste until they said their opinion, and immediately said something was wrong with this sandwich and spit it out! I took the plate back to the counter and told the lady that this was not a Reuben she said oh ok do you want them to make you another one? I said no thank you and just asked for a refund for the sandwich. She was so upset that I didn't like the food and didn't want another one. She was so nice when we first came in, actually all the ladies were until i asked for a refund for a sandwich that no one likes. Then they turned into the snottiest most rude people ever. I would not recommend this place to anyone who likes edible food. The ice cream was...
Read moreToday we had an appointment to make by 2pm. We got in the drive through, with ONE car in front of us. It took about 10-12 minutes to complete their order, but that’s fair considering they “make their food to order” according to the sign. Now, we are the car in front. We order 3 cheeseburgers and some fountain drinks. We waited, with at least 4 cars behind us for 50 minutes...for a staple menu item. After about 30 minutes, the kid who took our order said “oh, y’all got burgers right? We are just waiting on those burgers.”
I want to be clear, I work in food service. I know these reviews can be rough and I always give the benefit of the doubt. But, there was absolutely no way it takes a restaurant with a drive through 50 minutes to make 3 burgers...a staple menu item.
Now, I wouldn’t be making this review had the food been of quality. I go to the Ye Old in goose creek often and always enjoy. This location got my burger toppings wrong as well as one other. The fries were soft and cold on the inside and neither crispy nor salted. Unpalatable.
It was just a terrible experience. Safe to say I’ll be sticking to the Summerville and Goose Creek locations in the future. Those are of a much...
