If you love your hair, just don’t go here. They don’t have any of the correct products, it’s so unsanitary, bugs are everywhere, and the people who are styling you don’t even have their hair done. And I mean like…unkempt and no head wrap. People were doing their own hair. I feel like my pictures speak for themselves, but I’ll add more context. To echo other reviews, this place is disgusting. Roaches and bugs everywhere. Alive and dead. On mirrors, walls, floors, etc. H*ll, I pointed out a bug on the mirror to a lady styling my hair and she took her shoe off to smack it down. After that, she smashed it, but then went to get hand sanitizer that she just dropped over the carcass on the floor. She used the rest of the hand sanitizer that was left in her hands to clean her hands from grabbing her shoe in the middle of my hairstyle. I had Originally only asked for a hair wash and lock re-twist. They used cheap white people shampoo (like the blue Suave) that I never would have NEVER, EVER used on my very African American locs. My hairstylist used a comb that she pulled from her pocket that was already covered in gel and other hair to re-twist my locks. Additionally, her clips were rusty, dirty, and seemingly pulled out of just pulled right out of someone else’s head. And sure enough when I took them out of my own head, they were placed right into someone else’s. Additionally, I needed a lock repair. When the lady showed me that she was going to sew it in, I confirmed like four times that she would only thread it once or twice. She reassured me that it would be light. She ended up sewing it like 15 times - just a knot there now. Definitely gonna have to have it cut back out and have it repaired by someone else. If you know anything about locs, you SHOULD be able to do it without thread…at an African hair braiding place, that’s what I was expecting. However, the lady was older, and I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. I shouldn’t have the second she asked me to thread the needle because she couldn’t see it. I didn’t even read the reviews until I was sitting up underneath the dryer, but saw that five years ago, someone got a serious infection and started losing their hair because of this place. If I was getting any type of installation, I would have definitely left in a heartbeat! But since this was just to re-twist on my own hair, I didn’t think it could be so bad. At the end of my re-twist, another lady convinced me to do a style. I spent 25 extra dollars and absolutely hated it. Looked nothing like the photos or videos that I showed her. I told her that and she did try to fix it, but in the end I ended up taking it out as soon as I got home anyway. Hair washing station is unsanitary and uncomfortable as is the hairdryer. When I left, the Stylist had said “see you next time.” Never again. Ever.

Please Ignore the bad reviews and pay attention to mine. BOHO BRAIDS, BORA BORA BRAIDS, mermaid braids, whatever you want to call them. I am from a big city. There is literally a shop on every corner. Every braided here was polite and friendly. I walked in with my inspo pic and video just looking for a braider to make an appointment. I had been to several shops with my bundles with me and they all tried to pressure me into a chair. I was not having it. When I got to Aabies I was greeted by AC. She looked at my photos and videos and took time to explain how they could accomplish the look. I showed her my bundles and explained in detail what I wanted. We discussed pricing and the particulars because I’m picky. You gotta talk to AC! She’s up on all the styles and hand picked my braiders to achieve the look I wanted. I am very picky and no nonsense. I appreciated her clear communication and there is no language barrier. I know people think these talented women don’t understand you, but that’s your own ignorance. Treat them with respect. I brought my own human hair bundles for my boho braids. They offer 100% human hair braids, but I wanted the hair I know I like. So I brought my own. I have synthetic braids but the boho pieces and ends are human hair. 1. Be clear about your style, bring photos and videos. 2. Be realistic about what it takes to accomplish the style. 3. Communicate before you commit to a price and sit down in the chair. There are literally mirrors everywhere, they did a few braids and showed me how they would be moving forward, I told them I want my braids to look more like hair instead of braids and they adjusted by adding more strands on the next couple braids and I was out of there in 6hrs. I had 2 braiders and a really great time. Not bad for a walk in Sunday after 4pm. This is the most excited I’ve been about braids in years.

Horrible experience here. Went there to get box braids on January 14. Week later January 20th my hair fell out all around my perimeter with painful knots the size of quarters. Had to take all the braids out to eliminate futher damage. Call them to speak to a manager (Janet) she tells me to come in. I go back to the shop Janet was busy. We are sitting down waiting two ladies swarm us saying " what can we do now" as if they can make my hair grow back. Finally, Janet comes. We show her the damage. She say I should have kept all the braids in so the braiders can fix it. WHAT IN THE HELL ARE THEY GOING TO FIX MY HAIR IS GONE!!!! Then proceeds to tell me they dont do refund. As I'm walking out in tears braiders that work there laughing at me. Unprofessional. Spent 200 dollars for braids that didnt last 1 week . I'm in so much pain and anguish. This is the worst experience I have ever had with braids. I wouldnt recommend anyone going here. Update: Its January 26th i have been to the the hospital TWICE . I have infection from all the hair that was pulled out. The infection has traveled down to my face. Extremely painful. Still no help from anyone from abbies. Update: its January 29. I've been admitted to the hospital for the last 2 days due to the infection. I had 2 infections disease doctors come by to figure out what had happened and why I have abscessunder my skin causing my eyes to swell shut. They suggest that they used infected combs and things on my head. Thousands of dollars worth medical Bill's because they dont clean their instruments.

DON’T DO IT!!! VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!The first time I ever went to Aabies was April 7th at 8:15am. I got to the shop the Hispanic lady was friendly and the only friendly one. I showed her a picture of the two corn roll style I wanted. The Hispanic lady then asks the braiders about doing my hair. One lady very rudely and loud said “NO” and out of at least 8 braiders there no one would do my hair. Even the ones who were not working on anyone. I asked the Hispanic lady about it, she explained that the type of part I wanted they didn’t know how to do it. It was a curved part in the front, nothing special. After, waiting awhile one stylist who was not working on anyone’s hair and knew I’d been sitting there asked about the style. Once I told her she started trying to refer me the other location. After, waiting about 45mins another stylist came in and she said no then agreed. She wanted me to hold the hair, but was very rude as if I knew that was my job to do. She finished my hair in about 20mins and slapped the gel/wax in my hair she didn’t try to smooth it with a comb barely her fingers. My hair looked decent, but because of the amount stuff she put in it it itched after a couple days. I took them out the following week.

Tried again on April 23rd, hoping for a diff experience. I told the young Hispanic lady at the front what I wanted and the picture. Again simple, two corn rolls. The place was full of braiders and not one would do my hair again. I heard one lady say “it’s too easy”, I realized they didn’t want to to do my hair because the cost was about $40 compared to other higher priced styles. This is so dumb because money is money. I have a daughter that wanted the higher priced braids. However, Aabies just lost out on that and me ever returning. If anyone asks I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. Even the other location was bad. The young Hispanic felt bad about the way I was treated and suggested the other location. The lady was nice, when I arrived and asked what style I wanted, but when I told her she started talking to a guy in the chair. I thought it was her customer, so I patiently waited for a few minutes. Then she tells me that no stylist were there, they all left and to come back at 8am. The place closed at 7 and it was 5:55pm with the “Open” sign glaring. If she couldn’t help me then why ask what I wanted? Then to find out the guy couldn’t have been a customer if she wasn’t a braider.

Ms. Aabie word of mouth business is everything. I read other reviews where the ladies were rude and you apologized, but it’s still continuing. What is being done to change the behavior? They are a reflection of you because they work at your place of business with your name on the front. You never know who people know or anything and you have very rude people working there, but this something you already...

My experience was absolutely and utterly DISGUSTING and UNPLEASANT! I WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN NOR DO I RECCOMEND THIS SALON FOR ANYTHING ESPECIALLY NOT A CHILDS HAIR!!! Myself and my 7 year old daughter who has a HEAD FULL OF NATURALLY CURLY HAIR, came here to get our hair done. I was pleased with my hair although they told me one price in the beginning of my hair ($130) and then changed the price near the end to ($180). I paid it. When it came to my daughters hair, I gave the lady a clear picture of how I wanted the style to be and even asked them about putting the beads on the ends of my daughters hair. The lady suggested putting a little bit of weave in my daughters hair (although she clearly didn’t need it) saying that the braids would last longer that way. When they were done with the braiding, I asked were they still going to apply the beads to her hair. They asked me how many and I said “ I just needed a few beads on EACH braid” they only put beads on half of her braids and some of the braids were two braids with one set of beads- absolutely tacky! I kept asking them were they going to finish and they proceeded to loud talk me saying that they had to go tend to their family and that I needed to go ahead and pay. Frightened, I paid the ladies and my daughter and I left. I was still very upset about the situation so I came back the very next day and asked if they could re-do my daughters hair but that I didnt want it done right away due to all the tension and pressure put on my 7 year olds head. The lady advised me to come back and get her hair re-done but before that could even happen, one of the braids pulled my daughters hair COMPLETELY OUT LEAVING A BALD SPOT IN HER HEAD. I brought my daughter along with the braid back up to the shop and they told me there was nothing they could do for me because she was a kid and that she most likely pulled the braid out herself- insinuating that I was lying about her hair falling out while I was standing there with a whole braid with beads attatched to the end of it. I was sent to another store where they told me the owner would be. I came here and she was mysteriously nowhere to be found. I waited inside that store for two hours since I was told “the owner” would be coming. While the women snickered and laughed about my situation as I was clearly upset about my daughters missing hair and acted like I was the problem. As I sat there, I called the number where I had previously reached the owner and she blocked my number. I can say that this is the WORST experience as far as hair goes that I have ever been into in my life and am going to try filing a law suit about my...
