With waiting with my mom from my dad having surgery, which the last time he had surgery, he coded. So my mom wanted me to come with them which I'm glad I did. She didn't want to be by herself in case something happened to him during surgery. The nurse that took my dad to get his dye put in before surgery, let me go with him and she was very nice. Much appreciated. But this blonde nurse that sits at the desk was very rude when it was time for us to go back when he was in phase 2. She was very rude and unprofessional and wouldn't let me go with my mom. My parents are older and didn't want my mom to go alone. After I stated that I was his daughter, she proceeded to tell me that I shouldn't even be down here. I was like I came with my parents to be with my mom. This person needs to taught how to speak with empathy and compassion when it comes to parents like mine and the common courtesy of being respectful to others. I know some places will allow one person, but when we both saw her take 2 family members back to phase II earlier, I'm sorry but that was not right or fair. I do not recommend this place to anyone when you have people like her working here. You need a professional person working the front desk instead of her. I have her name Debbie, she was an older lady with short blonde hair. We heard her talking to other people like she did us. She needs to be reminded where she works and how to treat others, especially in the Healthcare field. I work in the Healthcare field and I treat patients and their families with respect and compassion. She needs to...
Ā Ā Ā Read more11/21/24 my son had a small procedure performed. From arriving at 745, to not going back until after 1030, to my son laying awake after his procedure for 30MINUTES, before being assessed,or even having eyes laid on him! To being ignored when he said he was having pain. For me having to go to the front desk to ask why I haven't been called back to see my son (who is a minor) after he'd been finished with the procedure over an hour. To my son telling the nurse he couldn't pee, only for him to be ignored AGAIN and rushed out the door to my car. It took FIVE HOURS in and out for an 8minute procedure!!! Not to mention the HIPAA violation of someone's family member staring at my son's chart on the screen in the pre-op room. As a LTC nurse I know good and well Atrium can afford privacy screens, or at the very least a 'walk away' button.š I had to tell the nurse to turn the screen or at least close out his chart. But in all honesty, that was the ONLY honest mistake today. This place is a joke and although I have been with Atrium for the 16 yrs I've been in Charlotte, I will never come to this particular surgery center again. Y'all really dropped the ball and the post op team needs to be reassessed on all levels. The care, bedside manner, and professionalism is atrocious. You'll definitely be hearing more from me on this, as...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI will say my visit to the Surgery Center started a little rocky. I was originally scheduled in the Main Hospital OR and was told by the Anesthesia department to arrive at 5:30am. My Procedure was moved to One Day Surgery and my time of surgery was 30 minutes earlier. I never got a call from the Anesthesia department with arrival change but thought I should probably be there 30 minutes early. Well...we couldn't get in the building until about 5:40am I was panicking. On Thursdays the Surgery Center does not open until 6am. I was just panicking that I wasn't early enough for Anesthesia.
Well the staff more than made up for the early morning craziness. Sylvia, was the Assistant that brought me back to Preop it is pretty cool that she came right up to me to bring me back. I believe it was Lisa that was my Preop Nurse. She was beyond amazing. She got my IV the first try and really was personable and really eased my mind. Post-op area was probably the most "stressful" but only because I got nauseated. The nurse Angie (I think) was very patient with me and also got me out of there quickly which means resting at home. The Anesthesiologist came to check on me and so did Lisa (the preop Nurse). My husband also said the staff was great to him. Of course my Doctor is great. The care that I received more than made up for the...
