I have a good friend who is recently widowed and also has had her cancer return. I’ve been taking her to treatments. Last Thursday July 17 she had an infusion and labs and was fasting. The labs were at 1pm so she was starving. We walked by the Brooklyn Pickle and saw they were having a special with whole sandwiches for $5. She got excited since it’s one of her favorite restaurants and she’s dying to eat. I promised her after the labs were done and she was settled in that I would go get her her sandwich. I went down and unfortunately they had run out of supplies and had to close early. I wasn’t surprised, it was a great special and they have delicious food, but I was super sad for my friend. I guess the employee who was locking the door somehow …? picked up on what I was thinking? She asked me what I wanted and my friend really wanted the classic Brooklyn Pickle sandwich. How about that sweet lady went to see if they had enough for the one sandwich and then made the sandwich for her? And didn’t charge me? It really helped my friend also, because her labs were off and she wasn’t able to get her infusion, after all that, so at least being able to eat a favorite meal took away from that unfortunate experience. I wish I’d gotten the employee’s name but I would recognize her face and pretty eyes anywhere! So I guess I want to say, thank you for the AMAZING...
Read moreI’m from the Northeast, where we take pastrami seriously. I grew up on it — hot, tender, flavorful. So when I paid $16 at Brooklyn Pickle, I expected at least a decent sandwich. What I got was cold, raw, and uncooked pastrami — like they skipped every step of preparation and just threw it on bread with a heap of raw onion.
It was honestly inedible. I’ve never had an experience like this with pastrami in my life. For the price, it’s beyond unacceptable. I don’t know how this place has high reviews, but based on this, I won’t be giving them another cent. Total waste of money and a disrespect to...
Read moreI was extremely excited to see Brooklyn Pickle in Charlotte—growing up in upstate NY, this place was a must when in Syracuse. I didn’t even realize they had a location here (kind of a bizarre spot), but I made the trip with high hopes.
Unfortunately, the excitement ended there.
The 12-inch sub I ordered was mostly bread—borderline skimpy on the meat. For a place known for stacked sandwiches, it missed the mark. It felt more like a basic chain sub than the deli-style I remembered.
Probably won’t return, but I’m sure they’ll do just fine here....
