I like Belk... They have a good selection of women's clothing, shoes and handbags. If you're smart, wait for them to have a big clearance sale, typically at the end of each season. Then look for a coupon in the paper. I have gotten the most amazing deals like this. Really good brands for 75-90% off! Their men's section is okay. I personally don't think they have the best choices but they do have nice men's suits and other more dressy styles. Back when my child was little I did enjoy shopping at the kids section. I am not a fan of the makeup counters in department stores, preferring to buy my makeup at Sephora, or Target etc...I feel like you get better choices and much better prices at other stores. I'm also not a huge fan of their housewares department. From time to time, they do have white sales, and other sales on their kitchenware items. And again if you wait for those big sales, you can do well. But otherwise I find those items are marked up way too high. Most employees of Belk, are very nice and helpful. However, I think they must give their employees incentives to sell. Because of that I have had an employee (or two) that have been very "pushy". I usually let a salesperson know that I will seek them out if I need help... But I can't stand it when they follow me around and comment on things that I am carrying, making suggestions that I haven't asked for. I know some people consider that good service, I'm just not one of them. Overall, I like Belk and would...
Read moreI love the Belk store because they have a variety clothes and bags made by great designers! However, in May I decided to purchase a handbag from Belk for myself for Mother's Day. I wanted either a Michael Kors or a Coach, but I wanted to take my time before I purchased a bag. The sales rep (I can't remember her name), petite with long black hair was very rude and seemed like she was rushing me. She asked if she could help me three times within ten minutes. I felt like she wanted me to hurry and purchase something or get out! I ended up purchasing a swagger from Coach. Yesterday, I decided to give Belk another try. I was interested in a Coach wallet that was on sale. I gave the rep my info because I planned on going back to the store this morning to purchase it. As soon as I walked maybe a foot away from the counter, the other sales rep (the same rude young lady from my last experience) runs up to the rep who was helping me and yells, "Oh my goodness, I loved your PreSale!!" Maybe I'm over reacting, but this is not good customer service. Today I am going into Coach to purchase the wallet. I know I have to pay a litter more at the Coach store, but I feel like a customer there and not just a sales number. The employees also go out of their way to answer my questions. It's a shame because Belk carries lovely hangbags and...
Read moreOk this is a gorgeous Belk with amazing deals and a fabulous floor plan. It’s also one of the most expensive Belks if you are purchasing an item that is not on sale or clearance. This Belk has a huge clearance section(s). I’m giving it two because the staff were weird af. One staff member was asking people if they needed a hug. I actively avoided this lady. When they opened the doors in the morning there were men in suits. I mean they were handsome but this is a Belk, why are you dressed like you for a Fortune 500 company? One gentleman was very obnoxious when you walked in and I am so happy I avoided him cause he kept making awkward jokes to people entering to doorway and today was not the day I wanted a comment. I was shopping in the plus section and a worker asked me if I was getting a gift for someone because I was too small to shop in that section. The gate keeping in plus sections can be annoying. I like drapey clothes and plus sections have nice soft comfy clothes. Basically it was a social nightmare. So if you are an introvert person, just...
