My wife and I went into Havertys with an hour to spare before we had to be somewhere. The plan was to casually look (not buy) for a new couch, and since we had never been to a Havertys before we thought we'd pop in to see what kind of furniture they had on display.
We ended up working with Tom who is the sales manager. After telling him our not-so-firm ideas on what we wanted, Tom was awesome in taking us around to show us options that fit our vague descriptions. Tom showed amazing patience and spent way more time than I think I could of spent if I had to be the person helping me and my wife (haha).
Tom really knows his stuff and what he's selling. To me this is incredibly rare. I'm used to going into a store and knowing more than the sales reps there. Tom possessed extensive knowledge on seemingly everything in the store. That ended up leading to him showing us to the perfect couch that happened to be a floor display they were trying to sell. It was a no-brainer for us to buy the couch.
In the end, a trip that was supposed to be merely looking at couches turned into us buying the couch, 3 lamps, 2 nightstands, a dresser, and an incredibly cool painting. I've shopped at a lot of furniture stores over the years (Carol House, Rothman, VCF, Mueller, etc.) and honestly Havertys really hits that sweet spot between great craftmanship, style, and price. Buying items that are so well made, really feel solid and substantial, at a fair price really made me feel like I bought stuff that will last a lifetime. Also, I can't believe we were able to get everything bought and scheduled for delivery so quickly and effortlessly.
Finally, as someone who is disabled and in a wheelchair, I really appreciated that the entire store was laid out with enough room for me to navigate around not just through the aisles but also the mock room displays. I was highly anxious that I was going to have a miserable experience (like at other furniture stores) until I got inside. They even had a family bathroom so my wife could help without it being awkward. Infinite kudos to Havertys for providing such an accessible store.
Huge thanks to Tom for his patience and professionalism! Also, a huge thanks to the install team on delivery day who were awesome. We'll be back for future...
Read moreBe careful buying from Havertys Furniture, I mistakenly convinced my girlfriend to purchase an entertainment center from their store and after their "Top Drawer Delivery Team" was done delivering the furniture it looks as if they delivered second hand used furniture. Then all they do is send out a "technician" forget about replacing damaged furniture, used to have a good reputation with me but no more. The worst part is sitting on hold for ages to speak with someone to fix the problems and then they disconnect from you. UPDATE: After purchasing the furniture in July and receiving damaged furniture via the "Top Drawer Delivery Team" and having put up with several canceled replacement times, Havertys finally showed up on September 10, 2020, with "drum roll" replacement furniture which is even more damaged than the original damaged furniture they delivered; to the point that the delivery people left the original damaged furniture in place and took back the replacement furniture excepting one base, which is also damaged as per the additional pictures I have attached. If I could leave less than one star I would as this is getting to the point of service that is worse than no service at all. SECOND UPDATE: Havertys is still unable to provide undamaged furniture showing up on September 30, 2020, with yet again another set of damaged furniture to replace the already damaged furniture that they had previously dropped off, this company just needs to go out of business. They are incompetent and need to go the way of Sears, JC Penney, Montgomery Wards and Woolworth's. Whatever you do avoid this company they are unable to fulfill the orders with anything but damaged furniture that looks like it may be second hand. THIRD UPDATE: Now after having delivered damaged furniture to replace damaged furniture, Havertys insultingly offers a "store credit" of $250.00 dollars if we will keep the damaged furniture and let them off the hook; BUT NO ONE WANTS THEIR DAMAGED FURNITURE MUCH LESS MORE OF IT. I guess they will have to keep delivering furniture until they get it right, could...
Read moreUPDATE: one month after confirming cancellation and amount to be credited by the STORE MANAGER we still are waiting for $1k of our $3k refunded amounts. Again today they could not answer my question, promised me a call back, I left a followup VM and then finally had to call in again 30 min before the store closed as no returned my calls. After I got thru, I was just told the store could do nothing and they opened a customer service ticket which will take a few days to get back to me.
Experience after first visit would have been a 100% recommendation for Haverty’s. After weeks of issues we would 100% NOT recommend Haverty’s.
Staff blames manager for all problems, shows the issue as at the leadership level Complete lack of communication and disinterest in servicing the customer after the sale is complete Told to purchase from them because we could get items quick, weeks later items still on backorder (we just moved back from overseas and needed quick delivery of items, not to be misled) Offered 48 months financing then called and told later it was only 36 months (we didn’t need it, but again poor service and communication) 2 Items delivered damaged and have to be replaced, one of these was a $2,000 rug with ripples and feels crispy as though it’s been wet Multiple times told would be called back, never was, had to go in to the store...
