First off, my apologies to the bartender—the tip I left wasn't reflective of your service. You didn't cook the meal.
Visited on Sept 14 around 3 PM. Feel free to check the tapes (I was in a yellow shirt, my wife in a blue jean half-cut top).
We went for lunch, and I ordered the Nashville Hot Sandwich while my wife had the Lobster BLT. No exaggeration, both meals were terrible.
My sandwich tasted like it was fried in grease that’s been sitting around for years, and the tater tots were so hard they could’ve doubled as legos—hard little plastic-like cylinders of overcooked potatoes. They felt more like potato chip baby bricks. I tried using my fork, but I couldn't even pierce the brick-like tots, and during the fight, one rolled off my plate, onto my clothes, and then onto the floor. To make things worse, this tot rolled through some hot sauce from the sandwich and ketchup before its dramatic dismount, leaving me with stained clothes, looking like a toddler.
Now for my wife’s Lobster BLT: First, the bacon was partially raw. Second, the tiny bits of lobster were as chewy as dehydrated rubber bands, with the flavor of a dishwasher sponge. The bread was drenched in what tasted like years-old grease. Her fries were also overcooked as well, limp in the same old grease.
We spent $64, and while it was money wasted, it was worth it just to ensure we never experience Brick House again.
The worst part, we debated where to go for lunch, and I remembered having a great experience at Brick House about seven years ago. My memories of the place were positive, and my wife was excited to try it too. Unfortunately, the place has completely deteriorated. The building is in bad shape ... nearly rotten steps, rotting window panes, and inside we were welcomed to a humid, sticky interior, with what felt like a barely functioning air conditioning.
Some might say we should have left without ordering or complained about the food. But two reasons I didn’t:
Now, four hours later, we are feeling sick from what we did eat (not exaggerating). My mission is to warn others. Skip the Brick House and head across the street to Red Robin. Red Robin might not be perfect, but it’s gotta be definitely better than what Brick House served us today.
Please wish us a speedy...
Read moreThis is a hard one to review. The food was phenomenal. Everything tasted amazing, wasn't oversalted, and came out quickly. The atmosphere was great, especially if you like a cozy feeling (big fireplace) and enjoy sports (lots of TVs). That said, wow did we have terrible luck with the service. It's been a long time since I waited over 30 minutes for someone to take my drink. The first table we sat at was really wobbly and leaned hard to one side. We waited there for about 10 minutes before I asked the hostess if we could move to a different table. She moved us one table over. At this point, we had no flatware and no one had come to take our drinks. I started to get antsy when 5 more minutes ticked by and no one had even glanced our way. I want to add this was father's day, but they were not busy and we were one of the first ones to be seated at opening. I watched as tables seated well after us were served drinks. Finally, a waitress came by and set some plates, napkins, and flatware down, but she dropped them off, said (pleasantly) "I need to drop off a few drinks and then I'll be right back", and went to a larger table that was seated after we had moved tables. We're at 20 minutes now. I took my daughter to the restroom, came back, and still no one had taken our order. Finally, a different waitress stopped by to take our drinks. She was a little defensive, and to be honest I was probably wearing my annoyance on my face, but she got our drinks and explained that when we changed tables, we also changed sections. I get that, but it's also not on me. Talk to the hostess if it caused this big of an issue, but leave me, the customer, out of it. I've been a waitress, I understand how frustrating that can be, but it's between FOH and the wait staff, not the customer. The first waitress did stop by and apologize, and she seemed very flustered, but I was hungry and didn't have it in me to do much other than nod and try to look neutral.
Service gets two stars because once we were finally served, our waitress was great. She didn't hover, we never ran out of drinks, and she stopped by to check how the food was. We will be going back because the food was top notch, and I will edit my review based on our next interaction. Get the calamari, you...
Read moreHorrible experience start to finish...
We picked this place because they were one of a very small group of restaurants that would take a reservation for a party of 13, and we had a dozen or so prior visits amongst the folks in our party and everyone acknowledged the place was great choice to celebrate the birthdays in our family.
The experience started poorly right out of the gate, with a lost reservation that had been confirmed the night before.
We cleared hat hurdle, only to be met with an apparently short staff... And a weight of 45 minutes just to get drinks to the table and in order taken for appetizers.
It took another 45 minutes for those appetizers to show up by which time the kids at the table were stir crazy, the adults were cranky and we would have eaten literally anything put in front of us... The appetizers were ok.
As for the entrees... I had the drunken pork chops, that were cooked bone dry. Two people who ordered steaks done medium, might as well have ordered chicken, as they were cooked so well done. Anyone who ordered a salad caught a break...
They were out of several menu items which weren't told to the group until long after we decided what each wanted, only then having two quickly make an alternate decision. That could have very easily been avoided at the time of seating saying with an apologetic tone " hey folks welcome we're out of a few things here are your menus"... But that didn't happen and became yet another check mark in the negative column.
Nothing about this experience that was a positive. We understand staffing shortages, as it appears to be the new norm these days, but if that's the case, don't take a large party If you can't keep up the level of service people expect .
Aside from a semi-apologetic server who had obviously been getting dumped on that day, there were no apologies from anyone or the presence of anyone who identified themselves as a manager. My guess is they were hiding.
Without a doubt the worst dining experience I have had in years. Which is unfortunate as this place usually rocks.
We could have really pushed it and demanded at least half of the bill to be comped but we all just wanted...
