The staff here were great! Top class and really "wow'd" me! They were easy to talk with, knowledgeable, helpful, and found me awesome deals.
However, the manager I found to lack in both tact and professionalism. I would describe him as the word "boss" with a negative connotation rather than a "leader" with a positive tone. My experience is as follows:
I was shopping for a wifi router. Right away the individual at the checkout desk greeted me and directed me where I needed to go. I didn't have a clue what I was looking for - especially with all the options available. An associate came and helped me determine what my needs were and explained a few features I had trouble understanding.
The manager, a short, older man with white hair, was near the area speaking to another one of his employees. My ears perked and my attention was diverted as he was trying to leave stating, "You know, it is past 4 o'clock." while lining out everyone out for their tasks for the rest of the day. I found that to be odd as it sounded that he was slightly annoyed, as if him staying a little later to assign tasks was an imposition. I brushed it off trying to refocus on my conversation with the individual assisting me.
Soon after he approached us and apologized to me for interrupting us to speak with his teammate. He asked this associate to perform a few tasks and to check several things. Then his tone changed to explaining that there were tasks the associate should have already completed. They spoke to understand where they had miscommunicated. Instead, the manager chose to spoke down to and dismiss his teammate with an even more stern tone. Which the associate said "Ok" and departed leaving my assistance interrupted as they went to complete the task that this "boss" instructed. I assume they did this out of embarrassment from public humiliation and . Later, they came back after the "boss" left and apologized. In which they finished assisting me in finding the product that suited my needs.
I could not believe the unmitigated gall of this man. To speak down to a teammate in front of a paying customer is such a way demonstrated a complete lack of empathy and an over valued sense of self importance. I, the paying customer, felt so embarrassed for this individual. That I was compelled to give them a few consoling, supportive words. From one human to another.
No individual deserves to be treated in such a way by an employer. If there's issues, they dont have to be weighed in front of a customer. There's a place and time.
Even I felt disregarded when I was the one who brought my business here in the first place! I came here out of convenience. Instead of going online and waiting a few days for my item to come in the mail. I came in and had such a pleasurable experience until this dude showed up and soured the whole thing. After this event, I found my item and made a purchase.
In closing, great store, the prices aren't outrageous with deals to be had, plenty of options for everything, AND THE STAFF ARE FANTASTIC. The management, however, it seems, is another...
Read moreI placed my order online and arrived at the store one hour later to pick up my printed item. They did not have it printed. The two employees working at the print counter had to search through their computer to find my order. The first employee printed it, just one side. He then realized he had forgotten the second side, tried to print the second side, but did it upside down. The first employee had to call the second employee to figure out how to turn the paper around so it would print correctly. Together they figured out how to print the second page. By this time they had messed up multiple pages so they had to reprint a few more copies (both sides) to complete my order correctly. After almost 40 minutes my order was finally completed. I had to ask for a bag to put them in and a receipt. The receipt was the Office Depot version showing that the print job was "done" but did not show any prices or totals. I was very, very disappointed with the service and performance of this location. The second employee seemed more competent than the first but he had another customer to help. I still do not understand why they did not see my job in the queue to be completed. I'm not sure if this is laziness on the part of the employees or a terrible system put in place by the corporation. Unfortunately this same situation happened to me in February 2013 at this same location. I had ordered a print job that was not completed when I arrived and took over one half hour to print after I arrived. I was annoyed at the time and submitted a similar feedback review. I choose to place this most recent order because I had a coupon and I believe in giving second chances. I am so disappointed in Office Depot, their online ordering process and the Cheyenne employees. I will happily tell everyone I know about my disappointing experiences with Office Depot and encourage my friends to use other companies for their...
Read moreI hate coming to this office Depot. I never have a good experience here. It should never take over a half an hour to try to mail a package. Today when I was visiting I stood in line for almost 10 minutes waiting to be helped. Then when I finally was helped the lady who is helping me was extremely rude and made me go find a box myself as she saw me struggling to pick the right size. When I came back to the counter for the third time she ended up helping somebody else and then proceeded to walk away with another employee, leaving the other lady at the desk to help me. This other lady was so busy working on another project she basically ignored me for a very long period of time. She had me enter in all of my mailing information which was fine but when I was finished I said okay I'm done and proceeded to stand there and wait 5 minutes and I finally had to say I need to go. Again I never have a good experience visiting this...
