Worst AMC in Chicagoland in terms of customer experience. I came to watch a 10 PM movie and arrived around 10:20, but after spending a little time figuring out how to get out of the parking garage, I discovered that the elevators no longer went to the lobby. I managed to find another way into the cinema, only to realize that all the entrances and exits were already locked.
Another couple who had also purchased tickets was locked out with me. A security guard saw us but chose to ignore us. After some time, they finally sent down someone in an AMC uniform who said he was a new bartender. He admitted that his colleagues told him people were stuck downstairs, but the only âhelpâ he could provide was telling us he didnât know what to do. At that point, it was clear the theater simply wanted us to leave. I gave up and left as wellâwithout even having the chance to validate my parking ticket.
Itâs shocking that a cinema located in the center of Chicago would effectively shut down at 10 PM. As a customer, there was no clear way to know what the last showtime was for this location. For a newly opened theater that hasnât even made all its screens available yet, this kind of experience is unacceptable. Good luck to themâI suppose they already feel confident enough about their business, but I wonât be...
Read moreExceptional customer service! Everyone at this theater is not just polite, but friendly and enthusiastic. Whatever minor problems I've had over the last couple visits has been resolved promptly and generously. Any theater can be a fun visit with the right amenities, but the truly great ones are staffed by attentive professionals. AMC Roosevelt 16 is off to a great start!
On the topic of starts... it's really sort of disappointing to read so many reviews of the first 10 days since the new ownership reopened that could be best addressed by saying "it's been 10 days since the new ownership reopened". This is an AMC that is clearly still in the process of renovating, and I will happily put up with a staggered opening if it means I get to have a theater in the South Loop again. Sort of weird and annoying that so many other moviegoers can't extend the same courtesy?
Anyway, this is a good theater, staffed by great people, that will likely become one of the best theaters in the city before...
Read moreThere is a bit of a sterile sensation and feeling to this.Theater, however make no mistake.
Although Icon is gone, the love for cinema still remains.
Furthermore, due to the extra space afforded to them, they have now added imax, and the upstairs bartender of which there is a whole half floor for has alerted me that they will be returning their upstairs kitchen menu, which was known for pulling in people with or without a movie ticket.
I look forward to this location becoming a staple of the community.
And hope that it is here for decades to come.
Pros: Everything, views, theater sizing, noise-proofing.
Cons: unfortunately, there is no real visible menu. And everything has been relegated to digital kiosk.
So in the event that there is a big crowd unfortunately, there aren't going to be lines and rows, because there are going to be three places where you could even buy food, you legitimately, cannot pay at the register they...
