What else can I say about Heather and the team at Fey Jewelers, except perfection!

I first walked into Fey's North Avenue location in the fall of 2015 as a nervous fiance-to-be, beginning my shopping for an engagement ring. Heather greeted me and offered me refreshment, and started by simply listening. I told her maybe what I thought I might be looking for, and she helped simply explore the shop. She directed me to some settings, but never pushed me in any way. I shopped around a few other places, but it was an easy decision to come back to Fey when it was time to buy. Heather was patient and flexible as I changed my mind on more than one occasion, and once again never pressured me. I visited the store many times over a 3 month period until the final decision was made. Heather was friendly each time, and was so excited with me once I made a purchase. My now wife of course loved her ring, and I thank Heather, along with the others who helped me make the decision.

It was an easy decision to go back to Fey when it came time for us to choose our wedding bands. Once again, Heather was warm and patient, allowing us the time and space we needed to make such an important choice. She took notes in each session and had our previous favorites ready to review again each time we came in. She assisted us through each and every detail, including the engraving of the inside of my band.

I of course decided to visit Heather once more as it came time for wedding gifts. By this point, Heather had an excellent sense of our taste, and was incredibly helpful in selecting beautiful (and budget-friendly) diamond earrings for me to give to my wife on our wedding day.

Heather had my wife's engagement ring professionally cleaned for the two weeks prior to our wedding. We didn't want to wear the ring so it was nice for the wedding, and my wife was sad about it. Heather gifted us a beautiful promise ring from the store that she could wear in the interim. My wife still wears it on her other hand!

After the wedding, we had an issue where my wife's wedding band lost a stone. We brought it in right away, and the jeweler replaced the stone and solidified the band at no cost to us. It was both stress and hassle-free.

Update: after posting the review below, Fey & Co offered to completely remake the setting and reset the stone. They showed us the remade setting and I was extremely pleased with the prongs and split shank. The ring was finished a few weeks later and it was dazzling! The prongs are symmetrical and crisp. We appreciate the genuine customer service and resolution to our previous concern!

Original review: My fiancé and I purchased a custom setting about a year ago. We went in to choose a diamond, and after a few weeks we didn’t receive any drawings yet of the setting. I asked when we can expect the first draft of the drawing of our custom setting. We were told that another couple bought the diamond that we chose. I’m not sure how they were allowed to do that since we spent a lot of time in the store looking at the stones and it was clear that we were ready to buy it. We ended up picking another stone over email. They finally sent over the drawing and we made some changes before approving the final draft.

The ring I received is not what I would expect for a custom setting. The prongs were hammered completely flat instead of rounded. The tips of the prongs were not pointed either and have a weird w shape. Lastly, the point of the split shank is not as sharp as the other side. I sent the ring back to be fixed and the adjustments are still not acceptable. The prongs are not symmetrical and the shank is only slightly fixed, and still doesn’t match the other side.

These flaws are glaringly obvious since the overall setting is fairly simple. It seems like the jeweler did not care when they “finished” this piece. My fiancé and I ended up getting our wedding bands elsewhere because I didn’t want to be disappointed with another custom ring. There seems to be a lot of oversight because they sold the diamond we chose to someone else, and they thought we wouldn’t notice the shoddy craftsmanship of the ring. When it was time to purchase our wedding bands, my fiancé recommended that we go to Fey & Co. as he had such a wonderful experience there purchasing my engagement ring. (I gave him little to no direction prior saying that I wanted a ring that was classic – yet unique, and Heather & the team at Fey helped him nail it! I love that he was able to surprise me with a ring that I love so much.) Heather helped me design the wedding ring of my dreams. I initially wanted an infinity band with alternating diamonds and pearls; but at Heather’s knowledgeable recommendation she brought up the point that I probably would regret getting an infinity band with pearls on something that I would be wearing every day as they would need to be replaced often and recommended instead only having the stones going halfway around. This obviously cut the price of my ring in half, and I was so impressed that Heather cared more about making sure I would be happy in the long run versus making a bigger sale. From our initial meeting to the day we picked up the final product, Heather kept the lines of communication open and was very professional and always extremely pleasant to work with.
