Much like the connected arclight cinema this place is meant for the upscale or, the I don't care how much I spend if I'm enjoying myself today type of person.
No city plaza is very very concentrated till the point of being almost claustrophobic however, most of the locations in and around this place are very fun and interesting aspersi when you get to date night or if you want to be the cool person showing off your city to your friends.
Residential buildings lesson 5 blocks away a bank across the street from the plaza multiple external entrances on all sides a school about may be less than 4 blocks away from the entire structure not to mention right before the and turned to the left is a candy shop and one of the best ones in the city.
If you wanted in your house or your belly chances are with the exception of a car you can get it from the area around New City.
Every style of restaurant that you could possibly want new city has within or around it but keep in mind noise pollution levels will vary based on time of day and day you choose to enter it's majesty.
About 4 or 5 restaurants 1 of which I believe has a 2 lane bowling section.
Another having an outdoor section for about 45 people with the fire pit in the middle.
Another one for the less adventurous on the inside of the building but also has outside access specializing in I believe spicy and Caribbean's foods but with decent drink menu.
And as I mentioned in a previous review if you go through the parking garage it's connected to a mariano's grocery store. Considered to be one of the more unique IL food stores by many.
The layer to this plaza is a little unique in the fact it is very circular and set of using a traditional square or rectangular landmass with multiple entrances and exits however that doesn't really hurt, the ability to access this place.
Parking is a non issue seeing as how it has it's own designated parking garage but keep in mind it's not free so come with money!
Although it's meant to be is shopping district you're more likely to see old friends coming through to find a good hangout and possibly watched the game, or loving couples of all ages looking for some time away on date night.
You really can't go wrong with the level of fun in things you can do in this small area, just make sure you got a good 30 bucks in your...
Read moreFor all this was hyped up to be, a handful of curious design choices makes it feel somewhat suburban. The open central area is almost completely closed off from the surrounding Halsted and Clybourn streets. Standing on the Apple Store’s plaza at that intersection, you wouldn’t even know New City is anything beyond a Capital One, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and apartments.
Wouldn’t it have made more sense to open that side up instead of only designing around a behemoth parking garage in the back (especially given many people come here via the extremely busy Red Line station, #8, and #72 buses, which all stop incredibly close)?
Functionally, most stores and restaurants here are quite clean. The ArcLight cinema is definitely one of the more upscale theaters in the city, and the Mariano’s is high quality per usual.
Probably still worth a visit at some point given its impressive variety of purposes (groceries, sporting goods, upscale movies, bowling, nice restaurants), even if its closed-off suburban design hampers...
Read moreThis place looks so modern, and the ambiance is fun and lively. It actually has a patio where people can stay, sit, and have fun, especially since there is music being played outside, which is usually upbeat. Staying outside is comfortable and actually relaxing. Newcity is comprised of different stores, restaurants, and local services, and they also have a movie theater. They got these incredible baked croissants, cheesecake, and bagel sandwiches, which are all must-tries! The quality is great, and everything tasted delicious. They also have a grocery store, which has a lot of fresh and high-quality products. The people here are very friendly and humble. I had a great time doing my groceries here, especially since it has almost everything...
