UPDATE: Zero Stars. The salon owner claims I did or said something unacceptable in her salon. AFTER SIX YEARS greeting me with hugs and kisses and smiles?!? Sharing uncountable intimate moments from our personal lives that I now see was only marketing, never sincere. This woman, who claims that democracy is important to her, sadly, is repeating a lie about which she asked me not one question. Someone said something to someone and that was enough for this woman to execute -- in her non-democratic manner - her pretense of caring about her clients, and more importantly in this instance, caring about democracy. She acted as is done in some very undesirable places to live in this world. She accused, judged, convicted and sentenced without one call to talk with me. Not one word passing between us, not one question after more than six years of patronizing this salon, much longer than those currently gossiping behind the backs of clients to the owner. But you know, the right thing always happens. I'm very appreciative and grateful to be reunited with one of the (many and) most talented hair people to have exited her revolving door. It's always best to know what really lives in people's hearts. PS This person who claims they want to "set the record straight" --- make their "record setting straight" statement about money. Big surprise. There is ZERO effort to set the record straight about what I said or did, which she still does not even know. They know nothing about an accusation she heard second or third (who knows) fourth hand, and acted on, didn't check out for herself - just accused, judged, convicted and sentenced. Excellent example for a so called mentor to make. ORIGINAL REVIEW TO WHICH THE OWNER DOUBLED DOWN AND REPEATED HER LIES.: The revolving door of "stylists" is dizzying. One never knows when a call will come to change your appointment - within days of the appointment. I had that happen several times. Last visit I had to ask this novice doing my hair for the third or fourth time, for something I wanted done to break up my highlights and she STILL didn't or couldn't do it. One thing she DID do? Cut my bangs wrong. W R O N G. During the pandemic, the salon owner informed clients there would be a surcharge to cover their added expense of making the salon "covid safe." Ok. That's fair. And when the pandemic was over? You think the owner brought the prices back to where they were? Nope. They're among those price gougers who use covid to artificially inflate their prices well past the stated need for the increase. Generally, overall, completely over-priced. As far as this place being a "spa," it's not even close. It's a hair and nail salon with a revolving door problem. One I'll never...
Read moreI'm very disappointed with my experience at Salon Edda. I wasn't even able to get my hair done! The customer service I received was absolutely awful. I made an appointment through their online booking system for a 12:45 p.m. appointment on Saturday. I showed up on Saturday only to find out from the front desk woman when I got there that the hairdresser couldn't take me because she "needed to leave earlier." I never received a phone call, email, or text prior to my appointment about this. And this was a serious inconvenience to me because I needed my hair done before a work trip the next week and going during the week would be really difficult to work in to my schedule. However, I remember I loved my haircut from when I visited a few years ago, so I rescheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, even though I had to put down a $40 deposit to do so (NEVER had to do this at any other salon). Come Tuesday afternoon, it was clear I wasn't going to be able to make my appointment due to work commitments. I called the salon twice, only to be put on hold, twice. I couldn't wait because I have meetings throughout my day, so I sent an email. I then got my hair done at Lincoln Park Hair Salon last minute, where I got in right away no problem (they did an amazing job too!)
Come Wednesday morning, the salon calls me, I assume to see if I'm coming. I call to inform them that I tried calling and emailed them so no, I would not be coming. I asked when I would receive my deposit. The front desk guy, Andrew, straight away said, "Well, you would have had to call before 9:30 a.m. to receive that back." When I told him I tried to call and was put on hold so I emailed instead, he told me, "We're a BUSY salon, so we have to put people on hold often when they call. And I didn't check the email so I didn't see it." I'm sorry but that is the lamest excuse. I went out of my way to clear my busy schedule to come to your salon; I have meetings all day every day during the week. You are "five stars" yet you have two-star customer service, at best. Salon Edda acts like an "exclusive" celebrity hair salon and they are not. They have one stylist that is clearly overbooked and it became my problem. I should have seen the red flag when they made me put down a deposit to get a haircut. Ridiculous. There are dozens of salons nearby with better customer service and more stylists available. I recommend Lincoln Park Hair Salon (Anel did my hair there and she...
Read moreI was very much looking forward to my appointment. It's a long story I had already written a review but I took down my post. I do feel writing this is necessary. I was unimpressed with the staff. I did appreciate Edda calling me to try and make things right, but of course this was after my review. So to me it felt like she was only calling so I could take my review down. This whole experience has left a bad taste. I don't trust this salon anymore the beginning was terrible. Please have your receptionist trained better. When I received the call my appointment was being canceled. The verbiage was " Edda was being pulled in multiple directions and won't reschedule me." Lots of Umms and Uhh with the person I spoke to, He was not nice at all. Very rude and condescending. This was after a 250$ deposit. A couple days later when I spoke to Edda she did apologize and said " I am sorry you were caught in the cross fire of everything". Such a weird way to go about things. Yes life happens, but I was a new client to build a report like this was a terrible way to go about it. After thinking about it, I truly just feel disappointed and I won't be returning. I hope I am the only client they have done this too. And I hope that whenever they book new Clients they don't overbook themselves since that is what happened to me. In the end I wound up finding a MUCH nicer hair salon that. didn't charge me 250$ deposit and it was way cheaper. The last thing id like to add is that this hair salon is so overly priced even for Chicago and there are many much...
