Rommel's Ace Home Center — Local services in Chincoteague

I’ve had multiple negative experiences at this Ace Hardware location, all due to the same employee (older gentleman with gray hair).

The first time, I came in about 15 minutes before closing to purchase a chainsaw. Instead of being helpful, I was treated like an inconvenience. His exact comment was something along the lines of, “Hold on, let me stop everything we’re doing to get you your chainsaw.” He never actually helped — another employee ended up assisting me.

Today was the final straw. I went in to buy a set of pressure washer nozzles. Ace’s website lists them for $23, but in-store they were $37. When I politely asked about a price match, he rudely told me, “No, why don’t you just go online and order them — we’ll have them ready by next Wednesday.” Not only was he dismissive and unfriendly, but Ace’s own website says online orders can be ready in 15 minutes, not days.

To be clear, the other employees at this store have always been great — helpful, friendly, and professional. Unfortunately, this one gentleman has consistently ruined my experience with this particular Ace. I also know I’m not the only customer who has had a rude encounter with him.

This behavior does not reflect Ace’s slogan, “the helpful place.” Because of him, they’ve lost me as a customer. I’ll take my business to Lowe’s or Walmart, even if it means a...

I visited the store on July 8th I called before I came to the store to see if they had little propane tanks due to the fact that our stove stopped working in our home and we had to cook outside they assured me they had propane tanks I came to the store I grabbed four and the man behind the counter was very rude he was waiting on another customer and he yelled over the customer and said if that's all I have you can't have them all I was like excuse me he said again you cannot have them all I asked him what was the difference if I purchased four or five he said well for you there's a limit and the limit is two and he held up his fingers gesturing a two I was so upset over this I had my grandchild with me I put the little green propane tanks to the floor and left I was surrounded by men in the store I felt so uncomfortable and out of place we I leave the store and my grandchild asked me why was he so mean to you I just told my grandchild He's not a good man I will never ever visit the store again there is no reason to treat a customer...

Higher priced, since it is on an Island. The usual necessities, for home and garden. Also sells guns. Customer Service could be better...they did have a nice Ladies night, for the Holidays, but embarrassed my husband, on ladies night; He had a little holiday cheer and was told in front of the customers to stop doing something, The Store Clerk could have been a little more tack full.
