Me and my family, my wife, son and daughter moved to Southern WV about 3 year's ago from the Charleston WV area. Since the move we have had inconsistent hair appointments, stylist and business. My daughter is in gymnastics and cheer so she constantly has to have her her styled and designed and myself, my wife and son all have dreads that require touch ups and retwist. The shops in southern WV are either overbooked, reschedule, not in or ready during the time of appointment. We looked online in the Blacksburg and Christiansburg VA area because we have shopped there, restaurants and VA Tech games we love the area we thought maybe we could find a good hairstylist, we read the reviews on Mrs. Donna and her shop and decided to call and give it a chance. From our introduction on the phone a week ago to our hair appointments yesterday she has been amazing and honest and clutch with getting me and my family in for a big weekend trip we have as travel parents. I am a minister so I am always on call to travel and preach and or be ready at our home church and I won't to be presentable for my work info for the Lord My wife is a RN nurse who manages a rehab facility and she's a woman of God who wants to always look presentable My son plays youth football/ wrestling and we are always traveling and I'm raising a young man of God and I always want him looking presentable My daughter is in Cheer/ gymnastics and always needs her hair styled and designed We drove 1 hours and 12 minutes from southern WV to get our hair done and we feel comfortable saying that Mrs. Donna is out go to shop for our hair appointments. She is Very professional Lovely to sit and talk with Good timing with the appointments Stop in and support her local business and get...
Read moreI got my hair done by Ms Donna back in September. It took me a while to think of the words to describe the most horrible and degrading hair service I have ever received.
I’ve heard many people rave about Mrs. Donna and her business, so I decided to try her services. The only positive thing I can say is that she could fit me in at the last minute for a wash, condition, and blow dry after I took out my braids and combed them myself. As soon as I walked in and granted I was a new client, she began saying negative things about my hair and kept on with the degrading comments throughout my appointment about how my hair was “dry” and how I needed to go to a dermatologist about my scalp condition. This was very embarrassing to hear because, yes, I was already aware I am prone to dry scalp, and I’ve struggled with dermatitis of the scalp all my life, but there were other people in the salon, and her comments should not have been said out loud.
She claims she is an expert in ethnic / 4C hair, but she is far from an expert and DID NOT know how to correctly section, detangle, and blow dry my hair. Whatever technique she was doing was painful, and I was very uncomfortable the entire time !!! (She used 4-5 different combs and kept loudly stating my hair was too dry to get it blown dry straight )
She will NEVER touch my hair again, and I do not recommend anyone who would be a new client to go to her because she is very mean and nasty to anyone who may be suffering from less than stellar...
