All I can say is WOW!! I was recommended this grocery warehouse on a Facebook group and was hesitant at first because it's a little bit far for me. I asked my friends and family if they also wanted me to pick them up a box when I went to scout it out and everyone said yes, so I found myself purchasing 5 Family Farmer's Boxes as well as a few other items from the shelves. The quality for the price is amazing - I'll definitely be coming here for my weekly produce. My sister (who lives in Santee) was saying that she would also make the trip (which is close to 30mins away for her). The customer service was also amazing. They gave me a free reusable bag for the few items that I bought off of the shelf and they helped me to my car with all of the items (and even offered to help load the car!) They also do delivery for a flat $6, but unfortunately I'm barely out of the delivery zone (border to the 54 freeway - I'm just a hair north of the 54), but it is awesome that they offer delivery nonetheless!
Here's what came in this week's $20 Family Farmer's box: a large bag of oranges (20+), a bunch of bananas, 2 6" pineapples, 1 bag of apples (2.5" x 10), one large head of iceberg lettuce, 2 yellow squashes, 2 zucchinis, 2 red bell peppers, 2 green bell peppers, 3 cucumbers, one bunch of celery, one head of brocolli, two heads of cauliflower, a bag of onions (8), a bag of potatos (15+), bag of carrots, small bag of baby carrots, small bag of brussel sprouts (15-20 sprouts), 4 lemons, 4 limes, 4 avocados, and 4 roma tomatoes. All for $20!!!! If you break it down, that's less than $1 per "food" (and some are multiples or entire large bags - c'mon 20 oranges?!)....
Read moreThis little market is a Chula Vista hidden gem!
It's basically a wholesale Farmer's Market and some extras. The fresh fruit and veggies are mostly at great prices. They offer other supermarket staples, too, including lots of Mexican staples. They even sell Mexican versions of Cheetos and Tostitos, with add-ins like chilies, lime, and Tajin.
The secret to their sauce is the "farm box." There's approximately 30 lbs. of produce for $20. Yes; you read that right! This week, there was everything from avocados to oranges and fresh spinach to lemons. It also included a few pounds of bananas and a 3-lb bag of potatoes. The numbers really would add up fast if each produce item were to be purchased separately. My husband also scored a 40-lb bag of wood charcoal for $18.
Thanks to a great friend who told me about this place - I'm forever...
Read moreI come to Chula Vista Food service all the time. My fruits and vegetables are ALWAYS fresh. If anything I get so much I can’t use it all. I am not sure why that person came on trying to sabotage this small business. Some times the clerk can be a little shy but I think they think I speak only English. Anyway, I will continue to patronize this small business because I love their weekly produce baskets. This is a REAL review from a REAL paying customer. I was not paid nor did I receive anything free for...
