My overall impression was that this is a great place to get your gaming supplies and comic books. They do a great job of separating the two by having a room for each. They had a wide selection of trade paperbacks as well as all the current titles and a selection of back issues. They had some discount comic bins as well. There was a room for in shop gaming. They had a lot of loose heroclix and magic cards if you're into that.
There was some action figures, but they were on display in the front of the shop by the windows. This led to most of the blister cards being faded. Since I'm from out of town and go to these shops in search of action figures and other collectibles I might be missing, I was disappointed to see yet another shop that merchandize with no consideration as to what sunlight will do to their product. This is really the only reason that I didn't give it the fifth star.
The service seemed good, though I didn't buy anything. I over heard the employees engage a few customers name and they seemed...
Read morePlayed Khan's of Khans of Tarkir prerelease here and it was a pretty bad experience. Just about everyone on the staff snuffers from "Comic Book Guy" syndrome and will talk down to you and just generally be crumby towards you if your not kowtowing to their status of being on the store staff. You get the feeling this is what internet forum moderators evolved from. The constantly yelled at little kids, screamed shut up constantly and used the threat of throwing people out of the shop constantly.
The actual crowd was pretty decent, if not a somewhat younger crowd.
The store did do a raffle that night for a pretty great prize, a winner's choice of From the Vault set. It was enough to entice me to spend more money than I had initial wanted to but that's a pretty sweet prize. They even raffled off some boosters as well.
I may have had an one off bad experience but it was enough to take my money elsewhere. Your...
Read moreAs a woman I have never felt comfortable in this store. From most of the staff assuming I'm only there to buy stuff for a man in my life to then saying I must be a "piker" in my Dungeons and Dragons campaigns (which I had to look up, turns out he accused me of contributing nothing and still reaping the rewards for it), and the looming over me like I don't belong when I was looking at dice, this may be my local game store but it isn't friendly. And I'm not the only one in my gaming circle who has experienced this. On top of all of that, a lot of the stuff is overpriced/above MSRP.
I recognize a lot of people like this place, but if you're feminine presenting I recommend going elsewhere.
ALSO their only comeback to negative reviews is to read the other reviews instead of taking them seriously and addressing them, which...
