If I could give the VOA transitional housing program for veterans zero stars I would. I helped my ex husband who is an army infantry vet who served in Bosnia and Kosovo into transitional housing. He had been sober 8 months and homeless. We were told the VOA would help with obviously shelter and food but also help with finding a job and helping him build a life. This was not presented as a rehab or a halfway house for criminals. They veterans who are housed here are not allowed to have a tv in their room, even if they own one, they are told how many clothes they can have, and if they have too many they have to donate them or throw them away, they are taken to job fairs with jobs that unattainable for some of them. 50 year old veterans are encouraged to go on college visits instead of getting jobs so they will spend their GI bills and then default on student loans. The case workers that are “in the back” do not come out and meet with the veterans when they are asked for . They do not help them with resumes or filling out their benefit paperwork. They can have family “visitors” but they can only sit in this weird cafeteria and not visit or help decorate their rooms or sit in the common are to watch tv. A weekend pass was denied for my ex husband to see his children for one of their birthdays because he was in a “probationary” period bc he was new? He’s not a prisoner, he’s not in rehab, yet he can’t go visit his children and his children really have nowhere to have a visit with him. This is the biggest load of bullshit and liars I have ever encountered and this is what is allowed to our service men and women. He could not even drink his water out of a Stanley cup because they said it was cross contamination. Their rooms are checked and they are woken up every two hours all night as if in a prison. What is this place actually because it is not making America great again...

I dont have hardly anything good to say about this place. I have went several times to visit my Fiance and every time I was spoken rudely with. I also arrived inside four minutes early for a visit and an employee named Mike Lee would not let me wait in the designated waiting area. He told me I had to go back outside. Several other workers was disrespectful. The staff wouldn't let me use the bathroom at all. I understand not using the restroom inmates use but the wouldn't let me use the staff bathroom Ethier. My Fiance was happier in prison. That's so sad. I have called several times to speak to her Case manager and I never get a call back. After I was leaving a visit one day I was putting money on my Fiance's book and smelt Marijuana being smoked. It was so strong and three staff members sat in front of me and had to have smelt it. Already since her stay other inmates has overdosed and had to be Narcand. So this is some of my experience here. We can't seem to get her moved to a closer facility to home. I hope your experience isn't as bad as hers and mine. It is now July 24 2019. My Fiance left three days ago. The day she took off I got a call from a lady named Jasmine asking to speak with my Fiance. I told her I haven't found her yet. She then calls me a liar saying she saw my Fiance getting in a vehicle with me. That in fact was a lie and I hadn't even found her yet. I finally did find her and I was relieved she was out of that sad place. Numerous overdoses happens every month. My Fiance tried to go to other facilities and they would never allow it. Its very sad also that the employees have the residents sign group attendance sheets but in fact they have no groups. That's not right. This is a very sad place and its very sad that going back to prison is better than staying. Please check up on your loved ones who are...
