Westgate Plaza is a combination of great consumer based stores and some dealing with niche buyers. Ocean Big Lots has a huge variety of discounted name brand items and generic items. I purchased all of my gardening supplies for this season there and gorgeous ceramic pots for indoor gardens. Today I bought thermo socks, gift bags, 6 for $2. and American Greeting cards for $0.99 each. Oh, and their stock of organic beans, seeds and flours is expansive. The Dollar Store has a broad selection of holiday and seasonal decorations. Staff is knowledgeable and kind. The Price Chopper Market is terrific. Albany's first mall! This plaza's Price Chopper is my regular grocery store, and the Ocean State Job Lot is a place I visit regularly as well. There are a lot of things about it that I like, like the fact that it is close to where I live, and it does have a wide variety of shops, including an auto parts store, a UPS store, two clothing outlets, a phone store, a tobacco shop, a nail shop, a branch of my bank, a Chinese takeout restaurant, and a pizza place that is actually pretty good. It can be a little on the gritty side, and no one would ever accuse it of being upscale, but you do really see a fascinating mix of all kinds of people, and it is a place that almost everyone in the surrounding neighborhoods ends up going...
