En Lai Chinese Kitchen — Restaurant in City of Albany

I am only giving this restaurant a '2' rating because of the chinese donuts. They were tasty but you kinda can't mess up fried dough balls rolled in sugar.

I must say though that EVERYTHING else was super nasty. The chicken for the General Tso's and Sesame chicken was sponge-like and rubbery. The pork fried rice was very bland with very little pork in it. On top of that they had a coupon for a free 2-liter with a $20 purchase with the choices of diet Pepsi, Pepsi, Sprite, Ginger Ale, Mountain Dew, Grape, and Tea. I asked for the Sprite and they had to call me back saying that they don't have any left, so I asked for another choice and after going through the whole list of choices and them not having any I had to settle for 3 cans of ginger ale instead. This wasn't a big deal to me until they had to call me back saying one order of my chinese donuts couldn't be made either! They offered me some chicken wings instead & i took them because I had ordered through Grubhub and I wouldn't get my money returned right away. When my food finally arrived they had given me these fish things instead of chicken wings (which I am allergic to fish!).

Maybe they were just having a bad night but I will definitely not give them a chance again. I'll just stick to my usual, Dragon City, instead. I hope this review will help someone not make the same mistake I did...unless you like having to change your order a billion times with mistakes still involved....

The reason I am giving this restaurant a 1 Star Review is because I never felt sick after eating Chinese food before, (other people felt sick too that ate the same food that was ordered) this was our first time ordering food at this place. Service is friendly and beyond expectations, but when it comes to food, I would not recommend it to anyone, rice (main food) is completely disgusting, white rice and fried rice, is completely flavorless, (not counting the cardboard flavor) absolutely no salt added and below grade quality rice, completely stuck together when hot, fried rice had no egg in it. Chicken is 95%dough and very little chicken found inside, very disappointing, feels like you are eating pork fat, steamed vegetables were not properly steamed, they were twice over cooked then desired, very soft, almost mush, soup had absolutely no salt added and tasted like chlorinated unfiltered water from the sink, makes me wonder what they make it out of its yellow color but is not salty? usually the yellow color comes from chicken cubes, which are always full of flavor and are salty, not in this case. I would not recommend this food to anyone who likes their food to be exceptionally satisfying. 1 Star until...

It's honestly pretty disappointing. But I called in yesterday to place a delivery order through grubhub and it was canceled the first time due to my location(yet I've had previous orders delivered to said address). The second time I called in to see why it was canceled again and they told me it was because they were not doing deliveries. So I ordered again and chose Pickup and my order was canceled again for not having ingredients. Today I chose pickup for the same things and they canceled again for not having ingredients. I was already out and drove back home, told my mother, and she decided she wanted chinese, called them and included the order I wanted. They had everything then and it was clear they lied to me, over and over. I called to see why they lied to me and they just repeatedly hung up on me. If it's the profits then ok, but no explanation is just a slap...
