Hannaford — Local services in City of Albany

It's a mystery why but milk you buy here lasts longer than anywhere else. Price chopper milk goes sour very close to the date on the container, sometimes before. I have had Hannaford milk up to 2 weeks past expiration date that was still sweet to the taste. One wonders how they pull it off. I would say their fish is fresher than the other big chains, consistently. The meat department by contrast is disappointing. The selection is not as wide as ShopRite. And the red meat prices are often not competitive. Their cheese section is mediocre. The deli section has the most helpful people of the major stories I've been to. You can actually get to know the people there. At ShopRite seems like the deli staff is different every time I go. But if you want a good prosciutto you're going to have to go to ShopRite or trader Joe's. Hannaford prosciutto is bottom tier, dry and too salty. ShopRite will also charge you eight bucks for a carton of soda which will cost four and a half at Hannaford. On average I think a grocery bill is lower at Hannaford. Don't be deceived by the gas incentive at Price chopper if you work the math and compare bills as I have the so-called free gasoline is not free at all. I’m a professional Shop & Deliver contractor with over 2,000 completed orders across NY and MA. This Hannaford is one of the only stores I’ve had repeated issues with—and specifically with one manager known to staff as Susan/Sue/Ms. S.

She has loudly redirected me from self-checkout even when the store was empty, delaying my work and interfering with customers. On July 10, she yelled “I don’t give a damn!!” in front of staff and shoppers when I tried to explain her actions were disrupting the entire checkout process. Multiple employees (and even security) confirmed she was out of line.

On July 24, she again confronted me—unprovoked—while the store was empty, and told me I hadn’t contacted corporate (I had). Two staff members later whispered her name to me and thanked me for working so hard.

This behavior is not only unprofessional but reflects poor leadership and is damaging your store’s flow, morale, and reputation. I’ve submitted a full corporate complaint and will continue documenting until real change is made.

Regular customers and other Dashers—if you’ve had issues with this manager, speak up. Silence is what keeps toxic...

The bathrooms at this third rate jip joint made me feel like I stepped into some sort of dystopian nightmare or a bad Silent Hill Sequel. Someone used the garbage can as a urinal and a employee just came in and put a check on the bathroom check sheet and left. I almost slipped and could have been un-alived, Why even have a Hannaford bathroom check guy? Is this why butter is so expensive here? If you must shop here, don't do what I did and use the bathroom before you shop. My sneakers were squeaking all through the store after I stepped in what? I don't know... It was embarrassing and I just told the other shoppers it started raining outside to explain the squeaking. Some lady ended up putting her hot dogs and burgers back and left saying she will have a BBq another day. Later at checkout, I saw her by the bathrooms and she gave me a dirty look. But then her 8 year old kid emerged from the bathroom and they started to walk towards the deli. I could see the shame wash over her as that kid squeaked...
