In a time when your only option to buy games is either Big Box or Online, it's nice to know that there are still a few, and I mean a few, game stores out there that are locally owned. I was hemming and hawing over a Nintendo DS Lite for a few weeks and where to buy one. My only options were sketchy refurbs on eBay or buying refurbs at GameStop. On a whim, I remembered that there was a new'ish store in my town and decided to call them up. I talked to the owner of the store over the phone about what I was looking for. Now, let me preface this by saying that I am VERY particular about what I want and it has to be in Mint or close to it condition for me to even consider buying a product if it is used. I asked him to be brutally honest about what he had and he told me straight up that he had a very nice machine is his store for a VERY reasonable price. In fact, it was considerably cheaper than online stores selling same conditioned machines. I walked in there on a day off and took a look at the item and was very pleased that I wasn't lied to over the phone and didn't have to waste my time. The man there was very professional and personable, which coming from a lot of customer service is something that is very important to me. It was almost a no brainer to purchase it right then and there. After everything said and done, I will most definitely be returning to this store to purchase any games that I may be interested in and hope that anyone reading this review will give this local store a shot, you...
Read moreIf you are a Pokemon or video game hunter, this is definitely a place you want to stop! Although the Pokemon cards are sorted in closed boxes alphabetically mixing all sets, it's easier for some people looking for specific Pokemon they collect but is also kind of fun to go through as a hunter.
Ryan was very polite and patient with us. There weren't any prices on the cards and he mentioned using TCG Player for pricing, so I really thought I could end up wasting my time regarding pricing. Here's the thing. Although Ryan uses TCG Player, he is very critical of the condition of the cards and that will reflect in the pricing you are given. He is very fair! My girlfriend and I stopped at multiple other shops and I had guys telling me damaged cards were Moderately Played. Ryan is accurate and will also welcome your input on what you think the condition is as well as any defects you see. He even shows you the screen so there is more understanding.
Some of these reviews have made some accusations about Ryan but that is far from the experience I had from him. My girlfriend and I couldn't...

I recently heard about this shop in town and, as a retro video game lover, I was really excited to check it out. I went in, found exactly what I wanted, and was genuinely happy. I waited patiently, and when the shop clerk finally got to me, he essentially turned me away.
The game I wanted was $10, and I only had a $20 bill. He insisted he didn’t have change. I politely offered to go get change myself, but at that point, he abruptly said he was leaving and wouldn’t be back for 15–20 minutes — at 2 p.m., right in the middle of the day.
I was very disappointed. I ended up leaving with nothing, not because the item wasn’t there, but because the clerk refused to work with me in any way. I felt disrespected and like I had wasted an hour of my day for nothing.
I won’t be returning. It’s frustrating that a local business would treat any of their customers this way.
Be warned — if you’re a new local, you may want to...
