Cohoes Clean Clothes Laundromat — Local services in City of Cohoes

I have had the pleasure of using this laundry mat since the new owner (I believe he goes by JG, didn’t get his name, but am seeing it in the other reviews) took over and I am delighted to say he has done a phenomenal job at refurbishing the establishment. It is always clean inside, the machines are kept clean and the atm machine he just had put in will be a huge help. I also was able to speak to JG while in there one day and he was very attentive to what I thought he could do to draw more customers into the place and asked me several questions about what improvements I would suggest. All in all he was a very nice man and sincerely cared about how to improve the laundry mat and erase all the old complaints from the previous owners lack of taking care of the place. What I do not understand, however, is the terribly negative reviews from people on here complaining about a raise in cost for using the washers? A. How do you think an owner recoups the money they spent on new washers FOR YOU TO USE and B. There’s a little thing currently occurring in the United States called inflation- that means you pay for for less in case you didn’t understand how that works. He could have raised the cost of the brand new, bigger dryers, but he didn’t even when it would have been appropriate to do so. And to the complainer of the plants: they do make the place look nicer, insulting the man over them only makes you look small. Finally, to the negative, low energy individual lillierose in the reviews: I hope you enjoyed your mile walk to the laundry mat down the street that looks like it’s been hit by both a hurricane and a bomb at the same time, covered in filth with the tore up flooring all to save yourself .25. Pro: The machines are new, the price per load is reasonable. The owner is a really nice guy. The location is convenient, and there's a decent sized parking lot (and if you take the bus the 182 drops off right in front). Con: Rarely anyone there to monitor goings on, so people are always hogging machines and leaving their clothes way past the end of their cycles. A few more chairs would be nice. There's also a smell, not sure where it is coming from, but it's been prevalent for about six months. Edit: After my clothes came home with the smell on them it was apparent that the machines are probably not being cleaned enough (or properly). Edit: NOT ENOUGH WATER! I’ve been coming to this laundromat for years. It is the only place I will wash my clothes. It’s clean, protected and stable. The Owner is very attentive to not only the Laundromat but also the customers who come here. This might sound crazy but this where I come to do my laundry & meditate because I can rest knowing that my belongings and myself are safe. There’s many things that people give their time to just for their own needs and I can tell that this laundromat isn’t something that is selfishly used.
