Babes Cafe And Catering — Restaurant in City of Cohoes

Decided to check out Babes Cafe for breakfast (As I've never been there). I was able to do a carside order, the woman who answered the phone was sweet as pie! The only reason i am giving 4 stars is that I cannot have dairy, I made it clear twice on the phone. However I get how cooks get into routines and its an easy mistake. I receievd my bacon and egg on a hardroll however both sandwiches had cheese 🧀. Which thankfully I always have to check my food I noticed what looked like cheese...so i had my boyfriend verify...and I was correct. Had i bit into that without checking I would have had a serious reaction. So the missing star 🌟 is for me understanding mistakes get made but food allergies are no joke. I had to drive back out to get the correct sandwich....i offered to bring the messed up sandwiches and they said no. When i arrived the sandwiches were ready and hot and they were apologetic. I will certainly go back again and give them a second chance. Their prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly, the breakfast food is pretty good. My boyfriend got an omlet and said it was good 👍. Visited quickly this past weekend for the first time and got a very simple breakfast. Its a small place but it was jam packed in there. Staff is so sweet even though they’re running around nonstop with not many ppl working. Took about 20 mins to get food which they apologized profusely for and didn’t need to - I knew they were busy and working hard. I had to take food to go bc I was in a rush.

Food was unbelievable - hot, super flavorful, bacon was crispy and home fries are SOO good. Get the peppers and onions. So reasonably priced too - I haven't seen a place with these prices in years. Only two other occupied booths. Immediately sat and given coffee. Waited over 10 mins to be spoken to about our order. Seemed far too long given the amount of people working vs guests. Food was good, hot, and generous portions. ¾ of the way through breakfast... wiry black hair cooked in potatoes. Shown to owner. She claims she couldn't see it. I took pics just because of this happening. No glasses needed. Very prominent on plate after being shown. Still denied it. Over all was disappointed by wait time and denial of hair. Food was good but with the overall experience, won't be back. Paul and Don's offer same for less than ½ the price and service. We were really looking firsts to this also.
