Nice cruise...clean ship...great crew and staff. Enjoyed the cruise with my wife! Nice to have a bar with adult beverages. I did however have 2 issues. #1 If you sat on the front upper level ..you could not hear or understand any of captains narration. You need to mount speakers on the front of the bridge so we can hear and understand what is being said. That would greatly enhance the historical part of the cruise. Speakers are not that expensive. #2 - The bar. My emails and signs on the cash register stated debit or credit cards accepted for payment. The staff however advised me they could not take debit or credit...Cash had to be exact with no change returned. I felt this was a huge money grab and a RIP OFF to your paying customers. My $22.00 Cost for a can of beer and glass of wine cost me $30.00 because they couldn't make change. When we docked the captain announced that while tips are not required, they were appreciated. Well you got an $8.00 tip from me because YOU could not make change on my cash purchase, which is unheard of. Sorry but that left a sour taste in my mouth and lowered the rating to 4 stars. NO REASON you can't have funds to make change or accept credit or debit cards as your own material states you can and make tips a customers decision instead of it being a money grab. I must say again, we loved the cruise. These two items will only enhance the paying customers experience. We would have rated this 5 stars if not for...
Read moreHudson River Cruises puts together a beautiful and picturesque tour of the Hudson River. The tour starts in the Rondout Creek and then goes north on the Hudson. It features a nice audio presentation about the history of the places on the river. Food and drinks are available for purchase on board. There are many opportunities for good photographs. Upon going into the Hudson the cruise goes by the Rondout Lighthouse. A history of the sight is given and then you proceed into the river. In the distance on the southern part of the river you can see the Kingston Rhinecliff Bridge. As you head north you will see various historic and contemporary mansions on “millionaires row.” You will head by the historic Esopus Meadows Lighthouse. Shortly after you will be able to catch a glimpse of the Staatsburgh Mansion state historic site. Shortly, thereafter the cruise loops back along the westside of the river. You will then enter into the Rondout Creek and an interesting history of the buildings and boats along the banks of the creek is given. You will then return to port. The captain and crew were friendly. It was easy to see everything from the top deck. The second deck in the middle of the ship was also good for sightseeing. It is best to purchase tickets online for the tour that you will be going on, they have several different ones to choose from. A must do if you’re in the...
Read moreI gave a 1 star rating for these reasons.
Boat was filthy.
A. The climate controlled room had an old carpet stench which as so bad it made that level unusable.
B. Most of the Tables and chairs on board were sticky. Clearly, the crew did not clean between sailings. The only good thing was that about 30 people were on board so my wife and I had to move clean chairs to a clean table…to make it feel cleanish….
C. Snack shack was a mess- the hot dog roller cooker was dirty, and the 4 hot dogs looked dry. The soft pretzel warmer had only 1 left over hard pretzel. The 2:30 sailing was clearly being sold the left overs from the first sailing at 11:30.
The snack shack kitchen on the lower level between the 2 to the bathrooms was so dirty and cobwebs were all over. After seeing this my wife and I chose not to ask the snack guy to make us fresh hot dogs or pretzels. We dint spend any other money on the ship.
Tour narration.
A. Speakers were blown and or cracked and need to be replaced.
Boat needs to be refreshed. She is old and seen better days.
After fees and taxes my wife and i spent $100 bucks on a dirty old ship. CITYCRUISES have given us better boats in many cities we have explored in the past - such as philly, nyc, boston, chichago...
