T. R. Gallo park is a beautiful little waterside park in one of the nicest neighborhoods in Kingston. It's very well maintained and laid out. There is a long paved walk along the waterside opposite Dock Island which is lined with small marinas. It's adjacent to the Hudson Maritime Museum, the dock where the Rip Van Winkle launches, and many restaurants and shops. There is a public boat launch in the form of a large floating dock directly under the Wurts Street Bridge. It is low and perfect for launching kayaks and other small cartop boats that launch by hand. Parking for the launch is a line of spaces directly under the bridge. There are slips for larger craft nearby but no back-in launch at the park. One side is old ships and boat equipment, and then the pitch black of the water, on the other side is under the bridge, bridges known for having the creepiest undersides of all man made structures.
