TLDR; GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!
This is a long one, buckle up.
If you look at my other reviews I have an excellent review for the CPR location in largo, it’s permanently closed unfortunately but I was well taken care of and the service was friendly and fast.
I’ve had an okay experience at this location and two pretty bad ones. The first bad experience happened about two weeks ago. I had my phone repaired in September (good enough experience) and the screen popped right off after only about two months. The screen was intact and functional, just not attached anymore, so I taped it up and brought it in to be re-repaired.
I was told it would be 45 minutes to an hour and covered under warranty, which was perfect, I’m an LMT and had a massage scheduled in about two hours. I went and got lunch nearby and came back after an hour and was told that the phone was not ready because the aftermarket part they were going to replace the screen with was glitching and they didn’t feel right giving me a glitchy phone screen. I can appreciate that. That said, the repair still wasn’t done and it took another 45 minutes for somebody to get back from lunch to approve that I could come back at a later date and have my screen repaired for free because they did not have the item in stock to repair it correctly. They re-glued on my old screen and I was assured they would call when they had more screens in stock and that’s where the real grievance is. I rushed to my massage but was still late, I couldn’t even notify her before our appointment started because my phone was still being repaired at the time, such is life.
Fast forward to yesterday, after about two weeks, they did not call but my phone took a tumble at work so it was as good a time as any to check up and see if they had received the part that they needed to finally do the repair they promised to do. They did! I wasn’t upset I hadn’t gotten call I just arranged with my manger to get an extended lunch break today and leave a little early from work to pick it up after the repair.
I got to CPR today and the gentleman working recognized me and ALMOST apologized for not calling sooner, but not really, he just said he had been so busy but had my receipt hanging where he’d see it. He claimed they had gotten a delivery just that morning (but of course I had confirmed yesterday they had the part in stock so there’s that small dishonesty). I told him I wasn’t upset he hadn’t called sooner life happens and I joked it happened to me again too, I showed him my screen. He said I can’t warranty that, I assumed he meant he couldn’t fix it again after doing the repair I had been waiting on for two weeks when gravity struck. Nope, he couldn’t do the repair I had waited weeks for at all without charging me full price.
To be fair, he then offered to knock $20 off for the delay. I told him I didn’t think that was appropriate so he tried to call the owner without success. Finally after wasting another 20 minutes of my time he offered the repair at “almost cost” which was still $99 dollars. I understand business need to make money, but business that keep my business also keep their promises. If you committed to calling, you should call. If you committed to repairing, you should repair.
I’m disappointed to say the least but you’ve been warned that this place makes promises they won’t keep and they don’t value your time. Go...
Read moreMy iPhone 5 was knocked off my desk and the screen became dislodged from the front of the phone. I went to the Verizon retailer near me to ask if they repair phones and was told it was not repairable. They offered to sell me a new phone with a two year contract. I did a Google search and found iCell Repair right near me and went there to inquire if they could repair my phone. My first impression was that the shop was clean and well laid out. The gentleman who helped me was very professional and he showed me that the battery had become dislodged and cracked. My surprise was when he told me it would cost only $39 to fix compared to the several hundred dollars that the Verizon retailer wanted for a new phone. He did not have the battery in stock but offered to get it from another store and have it fixed the same day. I told him that I had to work and that I would pick it up the following day. My next surprise was when I got home and found an email telling me that the repair had started and I also received an emailed receipt for the work. I picked the phone up and it was as good as new. Again, the staff was very professional and helpful and I purchased a case for my Galaxy Note 5 there because the Verizon retailer did not have any cases for such an "old phone." It was an overall excellent experience and saved me...
Read moreI went in yesterday because my I couldn’t hear phone calls on the phone. That was my only issue. They did the diagnosis on it and also said there was problems with the battery. I never had any issues with the battery. I told them I would come back Tuesday to fix it and they said the phone can’t work and will not work til the repairs are done. I only wanted an estimate but now they did all that, I had no choice but to pay for everything right then and there. After picking up the phone, I noticed that yes, the hearing is working now but the battery decreases when plugged in. It only increases just a little bit when I don’t use it. I go back today and they now say it can’t be fixed. It could be but it’s worth more than the phone is worth. Had they told me that yesterday, I wouldn’t have paid over $100 for a phone I can’t use. I am starting to believe they messed with the battery when diagnosing it because I never had any issues with the battery. They kept blaming the company I got the battery from 2 years ago!! Which is funny since I did not walk in the door with ANY battery issues. So now I am out $100 and I am without a phone. So thanks “CPR” for basically taking $100 and now I’m without a phone!! Such amazing service.....and if they don’t understand that, yes, that is...
