I had high hopes for J Sterling Spa, but it quickly turned into a frustrating ordeal. Before booking my 1st lymphatic massage, I specifically called to ask if they could accommodate clients with post-op drains. I was told Karina was the only one who could perform lymphatic massages with drains and made an appointment for that evening. I was pleased to find someone in the Clermont that could help me, and I proceeded to book 9 more sessions over the next three weeks.
However, everything fell apart during my apptmnt on Oct 4. I arrived & waited 10 minutes, only to be told by Jenny that they couldn't give me a massage due to my drain, despite having received 7 previous treatments w/o issue. I was told the front desk staff needed retraining & that I shouldn't have been allowed the previous sessions. This lack of communication is unacceptable, especially since I wasn’t given any advance notice.
To make matters worse, when I inquired about not being charged for my apptmt, the receptionist informed me that my therapist, KARINA, was the one that no longer wanted me as a client. This was shocking, especially since I felt we got along well & felt she should've spoken to me directly if there was a problem. I ended up canceling my next two appointments out of frustration and disappointment.
As for KARINA, she seemed very negative and brusk (at 1st), but very knowledgeable as she presented herself as highly capable and experienced in post-surgery care. Her extensive background in treating patients recovering from surgery gave me confidence in her abilities & I appreciated her clear guidelines on what to do and to avoid for optimal recovery. Over the next 2 wks we developed a good rapport. Karina confidently emphasized that she specialized in lymphatic massage, claiming her training surpassed that of other therapists (at times making disparaging comments about her colleagues’ abilities). Throughout our sessions, I benefited from her advice & even tried the ultrasonic therapy she offered, although it came at an additional cost since it was not a service offered by the spa directly. However, her demeanor changed dramatically when I opted to follow my surgeon's advice instead of hers. Instead of collaborating on my care, she reprimanded me for this decision, expressing disappointment & implying that I was hindering my recovery.
This interaction left me feeling chastened and prompted me to consult my surgeon for a second opinion. After discussing my situation with the surgeon's office, I learned more about the importance of my recovery plan, which included finding a higher-quality compression garment (as Karina had suggested), continuing with the lymphatic massages, but no removal of the drain. Unfortunately, this did not seem to align with Karina's expectations.
At my next appointment, I noticed a significant change in Karina's demeanor; she was noticeably brisk and offered no verbal support or feedback. Her frustration with the delay in removing my drain was palpable, which made the environment feel tense and unwelcoming.
After this interaction is when I was informed by Jenny that the spa could no longer assist me, citing training issues as the reason I was allowed to be treated at the spa for 2.5 weeks while I still had my drain in.
While Karina possesses valuable skills & seems to be a good massage therapist, her lack of adaptability and professionalism when faced with differing opinions left much to be desired. It's crucial for any therapist to support their clients' decisions & collaborate effectively with medical professionals, which I unfortunately did not experience in my time with her.
Overall, my experience at J Sterling Spa has been deeply disappointing. The lack of proper communication and support from both the staff and my therapist has led me to seek care elsewhere. I cannot recommend this spa to anyone in need of a reliable and compassionate post-operative...

One for my mother and one for me bc just had a two baby back to back. Needless to say I was very excited to be able to use these. When I call yesterday I asked for facial, no biggie last min, i’m not irrational person. She says well I can check another location. she advised me Altamonte could be able to do the facial. Great got excited! I provided all information necessary to book the appointment including my credit card. Only to be told, I don't know why it’s not letting me!” I guess they don’t do those type of facials at that location. So OKOK so no big deal I get it. So, I decided to go back to Clermont it for in the evening for a different procedure for a massage. Massage is OK. I’ve had better but no biggie I just needed to get out the house and do something for myself. After massage, I spoke with the receptionist regarding scheduling my specialist facial derma. She advised that she had a schedule for tomorrow Sunday. I clearly advised that I would not be able to do it in the morning and wanted to play safe because I go to church. We scheduled for 3 PM today. I go in for my appointment and was told I was not on the schedule. I looked at the schedule I looked at my confirmation give it to her and she says we are on the schedule for tomorrow I said well that’s impossible I would never do that because I have kids that I need to pick up from school. It’s a Beal deal to schedule a baby sitter for 5 month old, 16 month and 9 &11 year old. She then proceeds to tell me what I can get you in at four an hour later and then advised. I said no, I arrived Arranged my day around this. I have responsibilities that I have planned this accordingly hence as to the time I scheduled it for. This is very upsetting considering the extra long call yesterday before and the mission I had to do and go through to schedule and arrange my day HOWEVER, Her attitude was no big deal as if well that’s all I can do. To bad for You, (she didn’t literally say that but my body language sure did) Understand basic on their mistake someone was already scheduled but this was not my mistake I was very clear yesterday. She just kept repeating well it’s scheduled for 3 PM and all I can do is 4. Furthermore, it was suppose to be a 90 min and she said well just do a 60 mins? 1. I’m wanted. 90 min so why should Inconvenience my self on what I want because you guys messed up. So I can run hecticly around afterwards. Then what’s baffling is at no point was there an apology nor any type of compensation or anything else other than well it is what it is type of attitude. To me considering my lifestyle and how important self-care is to me that I just be able to become and take advantage of as my schedule permits this is a huge no-no considering the arrangements, between work and kids.
