The experience I had today left a pretty bad taste in my mouth, and I will never waste time going here again! I purchased pumps from another retailer (however couldn't walk in them like I thought I could) in which they sold me shoes of two different shades so they came like that for a reason. They're definitely noticeable, however, the Asian associate was so into the cork platform on the ball of the foot of each shoe, that he gave me an offer and began writing down my info. I was under the impression that the two tone shades were okay as well being that the establishment looks to purchase unique items from sellers. But then he notices the colors and then says no thank you due to "scuffs and fading" (nothing of the sort) less than a minute after offering me money for them, taking my license and filled out a small portion of the slip. Why offer and then take back when YOU didn't thoroughly check what would work for the store the first time?!? You were so hype on offering around $4 for something you all would sell for $14, leading me to believe that this was what you all would take as far as style goes! I haven't had much luck in the past fitting the fashion mold of A.E. (which doesn't fit with Plato's Closet or Revolve styles), thought I was right on the money this time, and then you backed out after offering and taking my license information. At that point the sell shouldn't have been backtracked as I was not the one who made a mistake. In any case, simply not worth the "exchange". Use better tactics...
Read moreStaff is unfriendly. How they can make a 10 second interaction miserable is actually impressive. Got attitude because I checked on my buy twice even though I was told it would be 15 mins and it was going on 40 mins. Which I truly wasn’t even upset about, I know stuff happens. I even told the guy it was cool I just needed to know if it would take longer bc then I’d come back in a little while. Then he purposely made the rest of the process of giving me the money super slow and kept stopping to talk to his friends bc he still perceived I was mad I guess even though I truly wasn’t? Said some other sassy stuff to me as I walked out even though not once during the interaction did I respond to his remarks. I don’t know if he thought I was giving attitude due to the time it was taking, but I genuinely didn’t give a crap about that until he decided to be rude af on top of it. It was honestly one of the most childish interactions I’ve ever had with another adult. This also isn’t the first negative interaction I’ve had at this place, but this one finally annoyed me enough to say something. I know it’s a resale store, I’ve worked at one, so I’m genuinely not expecting anyone to kiss my ass- but why do I and other people I know who have been there also say the staff was...
Read moreAvalon used to be the place to find huge variety and the flyest clothes and shoes on the East side of Cleveland. They also used to value buying good clothes/shoes and helping the community. Today I brought in my entire collection (16 pairs) of designer pumps and ankle boots, thigh high boots I used for display and for burlesque. ALL SIZE 10, which is a less common size, and well sought after. Most of these shoes I had bought at Avalon, and most had never even been on my feet or ever walked in. They gave me $7.50 for two of the least exciting and most plain pairs of shoes. Since I had shown interest in donating, they expected I was going to donate all the shoes they SHOULD have bought from me. The clerk said "you can see we have a lot of shoes" (which they don't), and the variety and quality of clothes was worse than if I were to have gone dumpster diving (which I will prefer to what Avalon has devolved into). On top of it, they broke the vinyl bag I used to bring them my shoes. Coventry used to be the hippest place to visit, akin to Haight Street (SF, CA). Now it is a symbol of hate, with a black fist painted on the window across the street from Avalon. What a sad sorry shame, not worth the visit, not even worth the effort it took to write...
