A couple of years back, I went in to buy some Birkenstocks. There were 4 people by the cash register. I went to the back where the shoes are, looked over the selection and saw the style I wanted, waited a few minutes for a sales person. I went up to the cash register and saw that the man was still sweeping and the woman was still looking over a ledger, the young lady was still talking to a customer. went back and looked over the birkenstocks some more and some other items nearby. I went to the front again and the young lady was still talking, not to a customer, as I had thought, but a friend. I waited a minute or two and then moved in closer to the talking pair, making a point of moving my head back and forth as the conversation did. The janitor was doing a thorough job and the bookkeeper was very focused. At no time did anyone say "May I help you?""Did you find what you wanted?" I went elsewhere for the Birks. I recently bought a pair of shoes online from this store because no one else had my size. I was willing to pay a little extra, and everything with the order and delivery went smoothly. Upon arrival, the shoes- which were sold as new- had a very strong pine smell as if they had been sprayed. I have a sensitive nose and the pine smell on its own is bad enough for me, but I can’t help feel like there’s some underlying foot funk that it’s supposed to be covering up. The shoes condition looked fine so maybe I’m overthinking, but I’ve never worn used shoes before and I just feel weird when I put them on, I get a whiff of something unpleasant and I don’t know if it’s just the spray or not. At this point I’ve worn them a few times and I won’t be issuing a return since they’re for working out in anyway, I just feel a bit disrespected if they actually sold used shoes as new. Walking in I was excited, waited all weekend to get some sage sticks for cleansing. Surprisingly, the male cashier was friendly, but I had to start the conversation. No help with products ad I wondered , extremely confused thought the store that I have never been in before.
