Shelter Review,
I noticed that there are not a lot of posts about the shelter. If you have a comment that you would like to leave about the shelter, you should post here. I have no comment really about the Second Hand Rose shop , they are helping the community. The only thing I need to say is that it should be a little bit more organized.
The Turning Point shelter supports women and kids that are in crisis. The intent and cause is amazing. What they don't speak of is the way they feed the families there (moldy bread, old meat) the women mostly eat donated food that has been picked over and when they are allowed to cook they have to use dirty, old ,greasy pots and pans. Some women have gotten sick from the food. They don't speak on the risky activities that take place right outside the building it can be dangerous. The on site director chooses who she wants to help, verbally abusive to some women , encourages women not to support each other, disrespects the women that are abused and in need, she engages in gossip with other employees often laughs about some of the residents. Turning Point the company is needed in the community but they could lose the mean-spirited director and provide support to all women. There are women that truly need strong advocacy and support without being judged receiving true support in a...
Read moreThis new location is awesome! This is not a resale shop. All donations go towards Turning Point Macomb, a non-profit emergency shelter for survivors of domestic abuse/violence. They help so many ways, providing counseling, temporary shelter, encouragement and guidance for the future. Second Hand Rose is a great place to shop, the store is spotless, everyone is very helpful and upbeat, items are in great shape, lots of variety, and sizes. You can find some great buys, many things with tags on, and be a blessing to families and kids at the same time! Plus, it's a good feeling to know exactly where your $ and donations are going. It's a great feeling to be a part of this organization by bringing in donations and dropping in to shop. God Bless!

Read moreI heard this was a great place to donate, I wanted to help people in need. My mom is ill & I cleaned out all of her clothes & took them to Second Hand Rose. I had 3 huge bags plus coats & really nice outfits on hangars. It was 4:30. I went into the store & asked where do I put donations. The associate said we only accept them until 4, there is nothing on the website that states this. I said I dont need a receipt. She said put them in the basket. When I was done I went back up to the desk & let her know I brought hangars also. She asked if they were plastic. I said yes. It was very hard packing up my moms things. The associate never even thanked me for the donation. She acted like I was bothering her. Very disappointing. A simple thank you would...
