GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS ESTABLISHMENT! Lastnight i went with Tammie to leisure world to"work out" because she says it's good for me, well i have 3 free passes. We walked in and they immediately noticed the free pass, offered to walk me around, i said that wouldn't be necessary i was going to the bicycle where my friend was already at. Tammie said that i was her spouse and that i was reluctant to be there. So i went and sat down, my friend was showing me how the equipment work when one of the workers came up to me and said that his co worker recognized me from last week and that i would only be allowed one more visit. I told him i had never been there before and offered him my driver's license, he declined to take it and walked away. He came up to me again and asked if i was going to join if not i only had one more visit, i again told him that she was mistaken that i had never been there. I was beyond aggravated at this point but goes back behind the desk and tells what i now know is the owner of the Collinsville leisure world, the situation. I watch this guy come up to me and say the next time i come in i will have to pay 8.00 or join because i have been in there before, now I'm pissed off, this is within a 5 minute time span, i told him in a very stern voice that i had never been in there, and that i had 2 more visits but that was fine i would never come back to his establishment. He responded with don't attack me in that way, shocked i told him i had been harassed since i walked in the door. He walked away, Tammie came out from tanning, i was standing the with my coat on waiting for her to hand me the jeep keys i would wait outside for her and that our friend would tell her what happened. I left at that point pissed and humiliated. Tammie got the story from our friend and was furious to say the least, by the time she got done with all three of them they were offering her free tshirts! Really? Why would i advertise for someone that treated me so poorly. They went so far as to tell Tammie that she wouldn't know if i was in there because i came in with someone else. She said that was impossible because i wouldnt even drive past the building let alone go inside. Most of YOU that know me know my idea of exercise is a pitcher of jack and coke doing curls to my mouth. So bottom line i would never recommend going to leisure world in Collinsville. I think it all boiled down to Tammie saying i was her spouse. My friend told me he is an ass and doesnt speak to anyone unless they are female young and good-looking. Well I'm a female, lol. But he got a dose of Tammie's intelligence. From what i understand he is going to get another dose from my daughter whom also has her mother's wit. No more membership renewals for them. Highly recommend staying away, after staying what poor service we received and how unprofessional he was his comment was he had been very successful and profitable for...
Read moreI am posting this now because I used to be a member some time ago, and have considered trying again if the reviews were good because it is close to home.
The lady whom I spoke with when signing up was really nice and professional. I did find a lack of help as I am not familiar with gym equipment, or how to use them. I was shown the equipment extremely fast and still ended up not knowing how to use any of it. I was locked into a contract that I didn't find expensive, but after my first few visits I realized that this gym is not good for those that are not already in good health and may be overweight (at least for myself). My first visit was extremely uncomfortable, another member had walked up to me, stood there watching, and stared as if I didn't belong there, how unnerving...the second time I could not find one single person to show me some of the equipment I have never used before (my memory is very bad, must be shown more than once typically due to medical condition). When I realized how rude people were and the lack of compasion by the staff I asked to have the contract ended. WELL...they refused to end my contract with them, I continued to pay for services I didn't use anymore do to the "fat shaming" so-to-speak from some random female club member (she was in very good shape). I thought the gym was a place to work on getting healthy but being made to feel like I didn't belong there prevented that for me. I feel like my health wouldn't have declined had I been able to stay but I was made to feel seriously uncomfortable and it just wasn't worth it to me. Maybe I will try again at a later time if things changed since I have been there. Mind you it has been several years ago since I have visited, maybe it has...
Read moreI just joined Nov 2017..after continually asking my spouse to go she agreed. In less than 10 mins she was confronted by an employee and the owner about being there last week. They phtsically walked up to her as she was on a bike next to our friend. She informed them this was her first time. The owner told her if she didn't join she would have to pay if she came back...even though you can go 3 times free with a pass. This all took place because a part time employee said she seen her last week. Now all this took place in front of all the patrons on the first floor. When I came down from tanning to hear this I confronted all them. I explained it took me months to get her to go this time, there would b no way she would go without me..barely got her to go with me..i also expressed her health condition and how what they did not only cost him a membership but possibly her health. The owner still disputing with me about her being there but when I asked for proof they could not supply it. Then he insinuated that she was trying to steal visits from them. In not so nice terms I told him what an unprofessional, poor business person he is to talk to paying customer this way. I will find a way to cancel my contract..and I recommend you to spend less and go to Club Fitness. Noone should be...
