Being that I am from California, it is important for me to find good authentic Latin style places to eat. My Dentist knows the owner here and recommended that l check it out.
This Sunday we all went together with the little one and the experience was so live from the moment we walked it. This is 100% authenticity at its finest. The decor is spot on, the staff are latino, and its a family friendly environment.
We asked for a high chair of course for the little one and the host brought it right away. The chair was clean and a good height for our baby to actually reach her food on the table.
Our little one enjoyed the music so much she got up and danced and the staff were very aware of her being there and enjoyed đ. We saw there were a few large family groups here for Sunday dinner as well with other small children and our waitress was sure to include our little in the drink orders and food.
We definitely plan to come back here for my fix of good food. It was well seasoned, they had a vegetarian friendly menu as well as the usual food options you expect to see.
My Husband had the wet chicken burrito and the sauce was so smokey and flavorful, unlike anything I ever had. I had the veggie enchiladas with black beans and rice. My daughter had black beans and Mexican rice. We were full...
Read moreTook my parents out to this place to see what it was like after Chevy's has gone downhill and it met expectations. The service was fast especially when we first sat down (we arrived just after opening), but did slow a bit towards the end as the place started to fill up, but not too slow. Food was wonderful with generous portions, but not over ridiculous either with dozens of different offerings on the menu from Quesadillas to Street Tacos to Seafood combos.
My parents went with the street tacos and quesabarria tacos, while I did a cheese quesadilla and tamale combo served with beans and Mexican style rice. All of it was wonderful, flavorful, and presented well! We even took out a 'to go' box of churrios as dessert which was served with four churrios dashed with plenty of sugar and cinnamon in addition to being served warm and full of flavor.
Atmosphere was inviting and the music was seemingly a mix of Mexican and Asian tracks fused together (best way to describe it), but it worked. Lighting is best described as 'warm' and not too bright, but not to dim (just right). Prices were reasonable and a bit cheaper than Chevy's by the Marcus Theater near O'Fallon, IL which has more inferior food and degrading atmosphere.
As for parking, as others have mentioned, there's plenty of it, but I imagine that it still fills up during the evenings and weekends with several handicap accessible spots right by the door that are clearly marked.
We seemed to have found our new sit down Mexican food hot spot for our family going forward. Next time we'll try Dinner options and see how foods and service compare, but so far everything...
Read moreGuys pay attention to what is being said on the less than stellar reviews. Don't go here. I visited for the first time today. The dining room was nice and the vibe felt good. They were quick to my table with chips and salsa. The usual salsa at Mexican restaurants do not much flavor or heat, so I always as for "mas picante." The chip lady sent my waiter and he asked which salsa red or green so I took green. It was ok. Hotter, but not flavorful. I got the birria enchiladas. They were beautifully plated but not really birria, more like shredded beef and that's it. The food in the end was decent but then the waiter took forever to return. Finally I got my bill and there is a $2.99 charge for habenero salsa. I immediately raised question about it because I would never had paid for hot salsa, the guy didn't even let me know there was an upcharge. They had to get someone else involved in order to approve removing it from the bill. I asked if it is on the menu, he said no then proceeded to give a bunch of lame excuses in broken English, he was speaking perfectly fine before. After he adjusted the bill, I went to pay with a cc and he told me that there was a 3.5% to use a credit card. This place is evidently trying to nickel and dime people who don't pay attention to their bill. I'm surprised there were not seating and utensil charges. Needless to say I will never, ever, ever, ever...
