Nothing makes you appreciate what you've had more than a bad experience for comparison. I will NEVER stray again! Let me enlighten you about AQ Nails through a comparison to last night's experience at ZaZa Nails. Both places are popular, so expect a wait. Prices are pretty much the same, and both are far less than what I paid in St Louis. AQ Nails has a warmer color scheme and has space between the work stations. The other is bright white, cramped, and set in a way that resembles an assembly line. I will admit that most of the technicians at AQ do struggle with English, but they really try to understand and work hard at giving you exactly what you want. My technician at the other place spoke English just fine, but showed next to no interest in my desires. I do wish that all technicians would ask how happy you are with your nails coming in, because that could cut down on a lot of confusion through language barriers. Last night, I walked in with the perfect shape from AQ, but didn't walk out of ZaZa happy after her trying three different shapes and losing a month's length. At AQ, my technicians are always fully focused on what they are doing, take their time, and seem proud of a job well done. My tech at ZaZa was listening to earphones the entire time and made me scrub the dip off my nails myself. I just finally grew my own nails out and switched to dip. Both times I have done the dip at AQ, my technicians got a solid even coat on both hands. Then, they threw in one extra coat at no extra cost for added strength, since my nails are longer and natural. Last night's nails are uneven and thin, and she asked ME which hand she had started with and if she had finished my left hand! Again, AQ technicians are always careful and truly pamper you. Last night at ZaZa, I had a chunk filed out of my finger under the edge of my nail by her Emory board that is still swollen and stinging this morning. I was bleeding, but she tried to say it was just the red powder I chose! Last of all, everything at AQ is new and beautiful and of the best quality. It truly feels like a spa. My OTHER finger is also throbbing today from being pinched in a broken chair at ZaZa. All I can say is that through this experience and my step daughter's experience for prom at yet another local place, I will sing from the rooftops that AQ Nails is definitely the BEST local nail salon and I vow to never stray again! Once my fingers heal, hopefully they can fix this mistake I made before what is left of my...
Read moreAs a fun weekend hangout with some school friends we decided to go to AQ Nail Spa. Right off the bat the check in system was confusing and difficult. I believe that the internet connection was down so it took two or three tries for each of us to get logged in. I planed to get yellow nails with a marble accent nail. My nail tech, Michelle, said that she couldnât do the marble. That wasnât too big of a deal but it was a bit disappointing. While chatting with my friends about a recent break up with my girlfriend, Michelle chimed in and asked me which one of us was the man in the relationship. This was deeply unprofessional and it continued. She continued to ask me questions littered with uncomfortable and slightly homophobic undertones. She asked me and my friends a multitude of incredibly personal questions like âAre you guys virgins?â âDo you guys drink?â âDo you do drugs?â. Besides that, she filed my nails down so close to the cuticle that they were bleeding all night. All of my nails are different shapes and different sizes. They look and feel lumpy. Amazingly, it got worse. When I stood up to wash my hands and pay I noticed that three of my nails had chipped and asked for them to be redone. Michelle was very kind about this, but had me pay first which seemed a little odd to me. She proceeded to fix my nails and then left. Not left my table, left the building. I was sitting there waiting for her to come back and tell me they were dry and the entire time she had left the building to go get a hot dog from Samâs Club down the street. It was so ridiculous and unprofessional that it was hilarious. Of all the other nail techs sitting around nobody took over. 10 minutes later I ended up just leaving. All of this was incredibly ironic considering that the entire time everyone I came in contact with especially Michelle begged for us to write good reviews. So much so that it became obvious that they wanted good reviews more than they wanted happy customers. Overall it was an extremely uncomfortable experience from all the questions and abandoning that ended with ridiculous looking nails, cut fingers, and me just...
Read morePeople of color should NEVER spend their money here! Visited this establishment twice. My first issue is when entering the establishment, they don't greet us how they greet everyone else. On the first visit, they didn't speak, however they asked me what service I wanted. I told them just a polish change because I don't get pedicures from nail shops, I go to actual spas for my pedicures. They sat me in a chair and left me there. Meanwhile, all of the Caucasian clients were coming in and they had their best, most positive business demeanors on. After sitting for 20 mins while everyone after me was being serviced, I left. Visited again thinking it would be different, and they have the same disrespectful actions. This second time (today), same thing. There were only two people in the establishment when I entered and I informed them that I wanted a polish change. The two young ladies that works here were sitting in the nails booths laughing and talking as I was choosing my color of choice. I asked where do I sit. Very natialantly one of the young ladies told me where to sit. I sat and waited for the gentleman to come out. Waited again today for 17 minutes, because I timed it because I was on my lunch break. A Caucasian lady came in and was greeted respectfully, was WALKED to her chair and seated, and the young lady IMMEDIATELY started running her water and preparing for this ladys pedicure while I am still waiting. People of color, go to your own people to spend your money because obviously it is unappreciated here! As you can see from the reviews, which is a customers right to document their experiences, they have a lot to say to us for our negative reviews but I don't see any negative exchanges with anyone else.
So people clearly as you can see from the response from the salon AQ Nail Spa that I just left 42 mins ago that they are clearly bothered by my truth! Make sure you guys read the reviews and compare their responses by the people of color vs people of none color. Perfect example is this review and response! Thank you AQ Nail Spa for...
