You and I Caterers — Local services in Colorado Springs

We asked You and I caterers to cater our Son's wedding up in woodland park on 12/13/14. They were outstanding!!! When we were first looking for caterers back in March or April we were quite disappointed at how expensive that many of the caterers were here in Colorado Springs. In addition it was very difficult to get appointments with them and their costs for a wedding dinner for 100 guests ranged between $3,500 to $4000 on average. In addition their menus seemed to be very limited and very expensive. So I saw a You and I catering truck one day and gave them a call. They were very friendly and helpful and we quickly set up a dinner tasting appointment. We went to this appointment and Nevis (the Owner) fixed us a sumptuous meal. Needless to say we signed a contract and they put it together. The cost for this event was significantly lower than other caterers that we had priced and the food and the service provided by Nevis and his family was absolutely top shelf! In fact the owner at the venue that we held the wedding at said to me that the catering service provided by You and I catering was the best that he ever seen in all of the years that weddings had been performed at his venue. In addition, You and I catering did a 4 foot tall Ice Sculpture for the event that absolutely stunning. Lastly, I want to talk about the food. It was to die for, They provided beef Wellington appetizers that were delicious. The main courses were Chicken Marsala, a Baron of Beef, and a raspberry chipolte salmon that was hands down the best salmon dish that I have ever eaten in my entire life and a vegetarian lasagna for those that didn't eat meat. The meal also came with Rice pilaf, baked red potatoes, asparagus and salad. The portions were very generous and we did it buffet style so that you could try everything. No one went away hungry and we were able to take plenty of the leftover food home with us after the wedding. I can not recommend You and I caterer enough. As to the negative comment by Leo I recommend that you disregard his comment as it appears that because this guy had less people than what he contracted for show up at the last minute. It appears that he demanded that You and I catering to just eat the cost because he had less guests. We gave Nevis our final headcount two weeks before the event and even though we did not have all 100 planned guests show up on the wedding day I would never expect You and I catering to refund us for having less guests. Can I give 0 stars? Because that is what they deserve. They catered our wedding. Bait and switch is the best way to describe this company. The owner will promise you the world, under deliver, and overcharge. Here is a list of the screw-ups:

Gave a per head price quote based on an ESTIMATED number of people. Our final head count was 14 people less, they handed us an invoice for the ESTIMATED count. Mind you this was a head-count invoice, not fixed price.

We had 8 tables at our wedding, they showed up with service and tablecloths for 7 tables. We had to split up guests and squeeze them into other tables. So embarrassing.

Promised they would have a cheese plate for the bride/bridesmaids when they were getting ready, never happened.

Tasting had fish prepared one way, at the wedding, it was done differently and mine was raw and smelled funny.

IF THEY WANT TO GIVE YOU FREE FOIS GRAS, RUN! It was rancid.

Tasting had a great raspberry sause on the asparagus, there was no sause on my plate at the wedding.

Some guests reported waiting 20 min to get their food, we had 60 people at the wedding. I could have gotten BirdDog BBQ and saved thousands of dollars.

I work in the service industry. If I treated my customers as these guys treated us, I would be out of business. They really added a ton of stress to a day that doesn't need...

Can I give 10 stars? You and I Caterers were phenomenal to work with! Blindly choosing a wedding caterer from the other side of the country was a crap shoot! No tastings, no known referrals. Just took a chance and wow were we pleased. Communication was clear and patient. This was a micro wedding and as MOB, I was wearing so many hats. I promised to meet them at 3 to greet them and make sure they had what they needed. Halfway through the wedding ceremony I realized I never met them! I got caught up in flower emergency and flat forgot. Went to the venue half expecting to find no one there and no food and everything was immaculate! Set up perfectly! Food was divine- the Antipasti was beautiful and the Smoked Gouda Arancini was delicious. But the main menu- Steak Medallions with Red Wine Demi Glace and Creamy Tuscan Chicken- EVERYONE raved about the food. I wish I could have had 2nd and 3rd helpings but I got too busy. It was that good! Tender and packed with flavor. The staff was charming, polite and forgiving to this stressed MOB. They went above and beyond what was asked of them. I probably will never host a wedding in CO Springs again, but if I were to host anything, You and I will be my first call.
