TL;DR Food took forever, order incomplete, waiter never checked on table after took order. I had such high hopes after reading all the great reviews. Did I eat in a different restaurant? It looked fairly busy when we arrived, a good sign I thought. A friendly woman greeted us and said it would be a moment before we could be seated. No problem. Once we were seated, we waited for a very long time. A woman who was getting off (we had seen her clearing tables) kept looking at our table and talking to a male server. They seemed to be arguing over who was going to take the table. She said, “I’ve already worked eight hours - I’m leaving.” Finally the male server came by, set the table, dropped menus, poured water and asked if we wanted other drinks. My husband ordered something to drink. The server brought it after a good while and refilled our waters, then took our order - appetizer, bread, two entrees. We waited and waited and waited. People came in after us and were being seated and fed. The waiter did not come back to check on us at all. A woman who appeared to be in a supervisory position brought our appetizer, onion rings in a chick pea batter. They were pretty good. No drink refills; server had still not come by the table. (He never came back after taking our order) Ok, we figured things were getting under control. People were eating and finishing their meals all around us, tables were being bussed, maybe they were going to get on top of things. So now we ate our appetizer and we waited and waited and waited some more. It was almost comical. How can no one realize that we have been there for so long and not even stop by to check on us and fill our water? (Almost gone, ice melted a long time ago) Finally, the woman who delivered our app came out with our entrees. No mention of how how long we waited, do you need anything more, just dropped the food, told us our bread would be out, and left. Did not fill drinks. At this point, we thought for sure our server would come check on us. Nope, bussing tables. After all the wait, the food wasn’t even what we would consider mediocre, although the rice was fresh tasting. If the front of the house is having a horrible night, it’s usually all related, so not a big surprise by this point. But maybe it could be salvaged by some warm, delicious naan. Nah, that wasn’t going to happen. We decided to leave - two hours of our life that we’d never get back, but bad shifts happen. (Worked in the industry for many years) Couldn’t get a check so went to the front counter to ask for check. Nice lady who seated us was there along with our server. We just asked for our check. “Don’t you want your food to go?” “No thank you.” Bread was on the check. We asked if it could be removed since it never arrived. Nice lady and server seemed incredulous - “You didn’t get the bread?” They asked multiple times. Then the lady who delivered food came to the counter and said, “The bread’s ready - it’s in the kitchen!” I explained that we had wanted it with our meal, so we just wanted to pay the check and leave. Nice lady and server removed charge for the bread, nice lady apologized and went into all the things that had gone wrong that night. (Trust us, we know) We paid, even tipped the waiter who never came back to the table after he took our order. We can’t stiff a waiter no matter how bad the service - worked too many years in restaurants and bars. Maybe the great reviews are for the lunch buffet - our experience was horrible, really the worst service we’ve experienced in years. I am always ready to give someone a break because I’ve lived some nightmare shifts in the past, but just flat out ignoring a table is...
Read moreFood was okay, I’ve had better Indian food elsewhere. However, the 1 star rating is due to the abysmal service. We waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for our food, we were served a wrong entre, the waitress rolled her eyes when we asked for Hot levels of spicy and were given mild. To be clear, I am familiar with ‘Indian hot’ and truly do enjoy having my sinuses cleared, and I think she assumed I was clueless. We reminded them about our drinks twice. Two tables were seated after we ordered, and they received their food before we did. The staff were dismissive and unapologetic. They got one of our entrees wrong, and when questioned, insisted it was the correct one and did not offer to remake it. This was my birthday dinner and I was very discouraged. We were sat at a table in the corner with very little room despite several more spacious tables being available. We had to flag them down for everything, including ordering and the check for the entire meal.
We ordered mango lassi that were ready made in a gallon jug (I could see it from where I sat) and it took 40 minutes and a reminder to get the drink to the table.
I have worked every position in restaurants front of house and this place desperately needs competent, experienced hosts and servers. Staging, seating, and pacing of the meal are easy to get right, and that didn’t happen here. They clearly do not have the staff to keep up with what felt like a very normal amount of diners for a Saturday night. I would have closed one or two sections, put some guests on a wait, and made sure that all existing tables were covered before seating more people. I would MUCH rather wait in a waiting section than wait at a table unsure if our meal has been forgotten.
I don’t expect free things when I go out to eat, but when the meal goes this poorly, I would have anticipated at least a drink comped, or an honest and sincere apology of any kind.
I look forward to finding an Indian restaurant that is more professional, more flavorful, and...
Read moreI can give either 2 or 3 stars, but It would be more so a 2.5. I have eaten at probably 25 or so different Indian restaurants around the globe, and this place did not quite do it for me. The flavors of the food were quite a one trick pony. When I have great Indian cuisine, I usually take a bite and my taste buds go on an adventure. Here it's like "this is how it tastes..." and that's about it. Service was okay. And as far as the food goes...for the quality, I don't think its worth the $16-18 dollars per entree. Maybe $10 will be a more fair price for what you receive.
The food doesn't seem to be quite authentic. The chicken wasn't tender in either of the two main dishes that I ordered (wanted to get a good feel for the food so I ordered two things). The chicken was springy and just really strange. I had the chicken makhani, and the chicken tikka masala. The chicken makhani was so creamy it was almost repulsive as far as Indian food goes. The chicken in it was also all stringy and weird. The naan was really thick and stumpy. It wasn't horrible, but usually naan has a series of textures: crunchy, chewy, flaky, squishy that really play with the flavor of the main dish itself. I don't know. This is my honest review of this place and I don't think I'll come back. Let the search continue.
HOWEVER - I have had other Indian places I wasn't too fond of until I found a specific dish. I always find that at ok to decent places there's one dish that is just off the charts. This place may have a dish like that, it all depends on if I want to take that chance considering the food is...
