I came for lunch because I was in the mood for Chinese food and this was the closest to my work. I arrived at 11:45 AM and had to wait as no one was available to seat me. There were 5 other people between two tables eating there. Once I was seated, I was abandoned. I waited several minutes before I got up to find the host. I asked if I was going to get a menu or if I was just supposed to serve myself at the buffet. He asked, "Well do you want a menu?" I said "Nevermind", grabbed a plate and surveyed the buffet. It looked pretty unimpressive. I started with what I thought was egg drop soup. I was surprised to find corn in this soup. It was rather interesting and not unpleasant. The egg rolls and crab rangoons were okay. I got the lo-mein noodles and three different types of meat. The meats were greasy, slimy, and tasted off. I was very put off by this meal. When I return to work, I shared my experience with my coworkers. They told me that they had eaten there before and they got the lunch special for pick up. They told me that the lunch special is actually very good. Maybe in a few months I will give them a try again and this time try there lunch special. But I cannot, in any way, recommend their buffet.

We brought our family there tonight! We heard awesome things and guess what the food, atmosphere, service did not disappoint! Food was absolutely delicious!! Every dish was super flavorful and wanted more! We had Chinese food and Japanese sushi! Each dish was super good! Every single person in our group loved the variety of dishes! We also had their Boba and tea drinks and they were 10 out of 10!! Try the Godzilla sushi and the dragon rolls! On the Chinese side there Coal Mine Dragon shrimp was too die for!! That shrimp is on another level of goodness!!! Portion size was great and service was super friendly! Our family had an amazing time! If you never tried this place your missing out on the best Chinese/Japanese fusion in Colorado Springs!!!! Just go and go now!!! You won't look for another after trying this restaurant!!! The new Owners are making this place on my top best restaurants in the Springs! Bring the family and have fun and sing karaoke too!!!

Like many local folks, a regular since 2002, I was surprised to see that the old comfortable buffet was missing. I took a moment to soak in their re-imagined seating surrounded by warm tangerine and ebony, large flat screens and modern traditional decor. The sushi bar was alive with color (a vast improvement upon the soda and storage area) and my 2 roll lunch special arrived quickly, was affordable, filling, and delicious. The Team members were helpful and friendly, and I'm sure they receive many "I've been coming here since the brothers owned it" stories! Buffet days may be over- but I can't wait to sample everything they offer over time.

I have been coming here with my dad and my husband for years, before this most recent remodel, and we loved it. The food was very well made, and the employees/owners were nice. Closer to the remodel date, it changed a lot, as far as the food and just the general mood..we even thought the chef might have changed. Suddenly, we weren't able to dine in anymore because the entire restaurant was being remodeled. We started going to the Coal Mine Dragon on Uintah during this time, waiting for it to be done.. Last night we learned we could come in and did.. excited to see everything and eat here again. When they said remodeled, they meant it.. it looks totally different, we almost couldn't believe it was the same place!! It's really pretty, they did a great job, looks more upscale and modern. They now have a sushi bar when they didn't before and a whole new menu..I want to tell those who used to come how it's quite different now, so read on, I know this is long. Aside from the new sushi bar, the menu now offers some Japanese dishes and pad Thai. There are more Chinese selections as well, but be warned that unless you're going for lunch, there are no more opportunities for combination plates, at all. If you want soup or egg rolls with your dinner, you're going to have to order them separately. I always order hot tea and now instead of the Chinese oolong that it was before, it's now a Japanese tea and you only get one cup as opposed to the little kettle you got before. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and it was good, you get miso soup and mixed vegetables with this dish..the teriyaki sauce is mild and a little bit muted. My husband got the beef fried rice and liked it quite a bit, but the portion was noticeably smaller. My dad ordered the honey chicken, but didn't care for it.. It's dark meat and just didn't taste close enough to honey for him. The steamed dumplings were the closest to how they used to be.. Really good. Dad liked the sushi a lot so if you're a fan, you'll probably enjoy it. Overall, we're glad we went but it was a bit too different than it used to be and we left kind of sad. I think if we went here without ever going to the other one, it'd be different, but the fact that you can't get a combination dinner is irritating. I also believe it has entirely different owners now. There are TV's and modern music as well. I think it's a unique restaurant in this part of town and I'm sure they'll do well but I don't think we'll go back. Just writing this review for information purposes. Thanks for...

This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We arrived when there were no other customers. 5 other groups came in after us, and not only ordered before us but got their food before us as well. Multiple times we tried to get the waitress's attention and she ignored us. Because we were not talked to at all, we didn't know where to get a menu. We were not even given one when we arrived. We saw paper menus that said "dine in, delivery, and to go" and thought those were right. The waitress never came over and told us they were wrong. Instead, she finally came to get our order (after 45 minutes) and was incredibly rude. I asked if I could get anything to replace the rice because I wouldn't be getting rice and she snapped back saying "we don't so that." My husband asked for one of our meals to be to go because our brother would need to leave soon. She literally ignored him. No acknowledgement. Then, she got my father in laws order and he didn't care what kind of soup so he said "just whatever's best and easiest". This was met with a deep sigh and eye roll. My husband asked if we had done something to offend her and she said "you got the wrong menu". And we told her that we tried to get her attention but she ignored us and she just goes "ask for menu" and walked away. At no point, did she come to check on us. She didn't bring our our to go food until we asked, when she brought everyone else's food but nothing for him. She started to get an attitude and then my husband respectfully said "I asked when I was ordering" and she apparently then remembered that she kind of ignored him and said "same meal as you".

THE ONLY REASON I EVEN GAVE ONE STAR was because the food was fresh and tasted good.

My brother in law said this was not the first time he's had a terrible experience with this lady, and he said that the food today was the freshest he's ever had here.

My advice- IF you HAVE to eat here,...

I have only the ABSOLUTE 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 respect for Coal Mine Dragon on 8th Street. We - my former bf and other friends have stopped in, and ALL were incredibly pleased. We, my family all have tried the food from the Unitah location, and it was "fine." The Fountain - Coal Mine Dragon, the food - except soup (actually just eggdrop) was absolutely terrible. So, their egg drop soup (was, Excellent ... at first, then realized that they were very, very slow/and on 2 occasions...my ordering the egg drop soup, we received it, and the broth was NOWHERE what we had liked, when we .. that they made it we BOTH thought it tasted -like Campell's Chicken Noodle soup - no joke the last two times we were there it was supposed to be the Asain , regular egg drop soup. We never returned. Another family recommended the location on Unitah, nope...8th street. We LOVE THIS: COAL MINE Dragon...I had - the first time there, and they have a fantastic menu, service, FOOD, as well as many other pleasant surprises (going through & trying dishes, which is exactly what they did. I explained that I had the best Avalanche (In my travels, I was looking for a particular roll.) *They were SO nice, and patient while I explained/showed the roll to them....let me tell you, they CMD 9th st, not only made the rolls beautiful as well as easy to eat, I have to admit: they made them even BETTER than anyone else I tried! I have ordered delivery two additional times and they still make it PERFECT! THEY MAKE IT the BEST rolls I have ever experienced...and they are friendly, patient, and incredibly helpful!...We hope you will run (don't walk,) to at least try their amazing people & ambiance! Great job, we refer everyone we know, and hopefully they will be around A VERY, VERY LONG time, as they have been so terrific. Thank you all - CMD, 8th street staff, chefs, etc. You all work very hard, and We love to come/or delivered! Thanks & EXCELLENT-...
