CFM is one of the many reasons we love living in Columbia. This market is truly so special in every way. Local, plenty of parking, kid friendly, great resources and free to attend. We aim to go weekly, and it has absolutely been a game changer for our health, physically and spiritually! Shopping this way is so rewarding. We love getting to see familiar faces at our favorite stands, and eating locally and seasonally is so fun and delicious. We’ve learned so much from shopping at CFM every week.
If you’re worried about cost, we’ve found that we end up spending about the same as we were at corporate grocery chains, but the food at CFM is so much tastier, produce lasts longer and we can really feel and see the difference in our health. Don’t get me wrong, it’s easy to rack up a bill depending on what you get, but there are definitely ways to make it doable and affordable. Plus, the investment in your health and the community is priceless.
It’s really special seeing the community come out every weekend. Saturday mornings are the highlight of our week. If you haven’t been to CFM yet, don't wait! It will surely become one of your...
Read moreThis is a treasure. So many great vendors with delicious food, wonderful produce and more. I love having the CFM in our town. Even though I don't get there every week, I know it is there for me! I have been going since it first started up years ago. It has been so fun to watch in grow and develop and become very popular. Come early to get the great finds of the day. Sometimes the great finds sell out early. This especially happens when things with a short season first hit the market, like peaches. Come hungry, because you can get biscuits, samosas, polvorosas, and all sorts of good things for your breakfast or lunch. Take your time walking through so you don't miss anything, and so you can visit with your friends and neighbors who you'll bump into. Bring a few bags as you'll probably get more than you anticipated. Bring cash because a few vendors may not have card swipers. Take your time and be patient in the parking lot. It gets busy. I hope to...
Read moreBeen here twice since moving to Columbia last June. Was happy to see more produce last weekend but of course higher in prices like every place these days. Was very upset about one purchase. Sunny Acres Farm booth had really good looking stuff so I purchased 2 heads of lettuce and cabbage. The lettuce was $4.50 a head. I got home and started washing it and cut te bottom core off as I saw bad spots. When I did and began to separate the leaves 2 spiders came out and the whole center was ruined by a sack and rotten. As you see in photos, I only saved half of the head! Now I grew up on a farmer and understand about not wanting to use pesticides, but if your produce has bad spots that can be seen with the eye, don't you think you should check it closer before selling it? Or maybe Don't sell it! Even better, find an alternative solution to keep your...
