This clinic is operated by Ohio State University exclusively for its students and it is a separate entity from the Wexner Medical Center, with different medical records, billing, scheduling, and doctors. It is also separate in these respects from OSU's Counseling and Consultation Services. Wilce is a medium-to-large primary care clinic with some specialized facilities like a lab, pharmacy, and an X-ray machine, along with in-house optometry, dentistry, women's health, and physical therapy services. It is not a free clinic, but they do accept insurance plans, with the major exception of Medicaid and Medicare. For students with OSU Student Health Insurance, most appointments at Wilce are free or, for regular services like a dental cleaning, require a $15 copay. For regular check-ups and the like, you see a doctor, but the doctors are exclusively general practitioners. Any specialist work has to be referred out, though Wilce has a referral coordinator that can find and make appointments for you with an outside doctor.
I do not recommend Wilce for psychiatric diagnosis and medication management. Wilce was able to arrange comprehensive psychological testing for an ADHD diagnosis, but my assigned physician was cold and pretty unfeeling and unhelpful with ADHD and depression treatment. I was able to switch to a better doctor at the clinic, but for psychological conditions I would recommend OSU students instead see psychiatrists at Counseling and Consultation Services. Most of my appointments outside of mental health were handled pretty well, and plenty of appointments were available for scheduling, though I thought the doctors could be a little hesitant to refer out for specialists when I asked. I had very good experiences with the dental, nutritionist, and physical therapy services. I liked the pharmacy staff but in general I think the Kroger pharmacy has better prices, and Kroger certainly has better hours. Wilce is not open most weekends--I've never been able to find a Saturday when they were open, honestly.
For OSU students, Wilce is probably the most affordable and convenient option for primary care, but for some services like mental health or the pharmacy, they may want to pick and choose...
Read moreThe ladies at the desk were very nice. I went in to get a sports physical. Once called, I handed the nurse assistant my medical history form, as instructed by the lady at the desk. The nurse was obviously frustrated and asked who told me to give her that. She took my height and weight and led me to the exam room. Once in the exam room, she asked if I had the form that I needed signed. I realized I had forgot it and apologized. I asked if it was possible that the lady at the desk could print it off really quickly as it was available on the web. A simple no would have sufficied but the nurse became very rude and hostile. She said she would ask the doctor what they could do, so I waited in the room for her to return. I pulled up the sheet on my phone and asked if maybe I could come back and have them sign it. The nurse told me with a attitude that I didn't understand and I was already making them late and being an inconveniece. I told her I would just reschedule and proceeded to leave because I didn't think she would help me accomplish what I needed done. She then got very angry and told me I was rude for leaving and asked if I wanted to figure it out or leave. I replied that she had just basically told me I didn't have options. So I left. The lady at the desk asked me where I was going and I proceeed to bust into tears because I was so upset about the hostility that I had just received. I am not one to complain. I've never written a negative review. But the way that this manner was handled was extremely unprofessional. I understand that it was my erorr and she didn't have to accommodate me. But being treated with so much anger and annoyance was completely unnecessary. I will never be returning to this clinic and I feel sorry for the students that have no...
Read moreThe customer service has much to be desired. Two different people gave my daughter wrong information. One person did not shut up enough to listen. She asked my daughter a question and as soon as my daughter went to answer, she started talking. I tried talking and she cut me off several times. Then took what I said personal when I was simply trying to give her more information to take to the people she needed to talk to. She was combative and aggressive. If involved gotten away with writing this review and giving them 0 stars, I would have. 1star is too many. Also, my other daughter went there to see a doctor and the doctor would not listen, wanting to send her for test that she already took. All Chechen simply do is wait for her records. Trying to give her medication for something she did not have. Mind you my daughter has had this health issue for years. She knows what medication she needs. She had to make the doctor give it to her and lo and behold, she feels better. The doctor then schedule my daughter for testing that #1 she didn’t need and #2 she told her she didn’t need. She was trying to force an issue that was not and is not there. My daughter just went there for because she moved to Columbus and needed a prescription refill. Her doctor here does not take her new insurance. Again, her original medication works, she feels better. She did not need what the doctor was trying to give her. Needless to say we told both our daughters to find doctors outside of the student health center. They are not good. Their excuse is that...
