Ohio Stadium, affectionately known as “The Horseshoe,” is not just a sports venue—it’s a living, breathing piece of Ohio history. From the moment you approach the stadium and see its towering structure, you can feel the energy, tradition, and pride that surround it. Whether you’re here for a nail-biting Ohio State football game, a concert, or a special event, this place delivers an unforgettable experience every single time.
First, the atmosphere is unmatched. On game days, the sea of scarlet and gray is a sight to behold. Fans are passionate, friendly, and welcoming, creating an electric yet family-friendly environment. The excitement builds even before you enter, with tailgates, marching band performances, and the famous “Script Ohio” making the pregame festivities just as memorable as the main event.
Inside, the stadium is massive yet surprisingly easy to navigate. The seating is well-designed, with excellent sightlines from nearly every section. Even in the upper deck, you feel close to the action thanks to the steep, fan-friendly design. The roar of over 100,000 fans chanting “O-H! / I-O!” in unison is something you have to experience at least once in your life—it’s pure goosebumps.
The staff and event crew keep things running smoothly, even with such huge crowds. Security is organized and efficient, and ushers are always ready to help you find your seat. Concession lines move quickly, and there’s a surprisingly good selection of food and drinks, from classic stadium fare to Ohio favorites.
The stadium’s history adds another layer to the experience. Built in 1922 and continually upgraded, it’s a beautiful blend of tradition and modern comfort. The architecture is iconic, and the views—especially at sunset—are breathtaking. The way the stadium opens up at the south end provides a unique aesthetic that sets it apart from other arenas.
Accessibility is also well-considered. There are ramps, elevators, and designated seating areas for those with mobility needs. Restrooms are plentiful and kept clean despite the high volume of fans.
Beyond football, Ohio Stadium hosts major concerts and community events, each benefiting from the same world-class facilities and staff. But make no mistake—this place truly shines when the Buckeyes take the field.
In short, Ohio Stadium isn’t just a place to watch a game—it’s a place to feel part of something bigger. It’s tradition, community, and excitement all rolled into one unforgettable venue. If you’re anywhere near Columbus, do yourself a favor and experience a game here. You’ll walk away with memories—and maybe a slightly hoarse voice from cheering—that will last a...
Read moreWas just here for the Buckeye country super fest and while the lineup and the shows were great, the venue as a whole was dissappointing. Everyone working there was polite at best, but never friendly and oftentimes rude. Security was very karen-y and was picking and choosing who they told to get back in their seats. Earlier in the day, whole most of the stadium was empty, we moved closer into the shade. Keep in mind, none of the seats were full, and we didn't sit down we just stood off to the side. Security guy with a white goatee tells us we need to find out seats. All is well and good but there are literally people hanging on the guard rails, leaning over right next to the stage and he never said a word, even though they were right behind him, and all we did was stand a bit further up to be in the shade. Genuinely, the only thing I can think of is that it was discrimination of some sort, considering the people he chose not to confront did NOT have media passes and he never said a word.
Secondly, the drinks were missing alcohol. I have been a corporate beverage manager for several hotels, music venues, etc. And I can tell you our $14 drinks had no alcohol in them. I fully understand liquor laws and that obviously you can't give someone too much alcohol, and there's a limit to how much can go in one drink. Some states it's 1.25, 1.5, etc. Whatever they gave us had to be under 1oz.
We decide to drink beer instead since the drinks were a ripoff, and whaddya know. Its almost all warm. So not only was their beer selection incredibly small, but it was almost always warm. We still bought several rounds, and we had a very good time. But it's very obvious that the venue is not managed well, and it all it does is reinforce the notion that Ohio is quite lacking in hospitality. Respectfully, as wonderful as the concerts were, I...
Read moreI arrived at the Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, excited to watch the Buckeyes take on their rivals. However, my excitement was quickly replaced with disappointment as I took in my surroundings. The stadium was drab and uninviting, lacking any character or charm.
As I made my way to my seat, I couldn't help but notice the unpleasant smell in the air. It was a mix of old socks and stale beer, and it seemed to be coming from the fans themselves. The people around me were rude and obnoxious, their behavior detracting from the game rather than enhancing it.
The facilities were outdated and poorly maintained. The bathrooms were filthy and lacked basic amenities like soap and toilet paper. The concession stands were overpriced and offered a limited selection of unappetizing food.
To make matters worse, the seating was cramped and uncomfortable. My knees were pressed up against the seat in front of me, and the metal bleachers were hard and unforgiving. It was clear that the stadium had not been designed with the comfort of the fans in mind.
As the game wore on, my disappointment turned to frustration. The sound system was muffled and unclear, making it difficult to hear the announcer or the music. The scoreboard was outdated and difficult to read, leaving me feeling disconnected from the game.
In the end, I left the Ohio Stadium feeling let down and unsatisfied. The experience had been anything but enjoyable, and I couldn't help but wonder why anyone would choose to attend a game there. The Ohio Stadium was a reminder that not all sports venues are created equal, and sometimes, it's better to stay home and watch...
