I decided to look at Morrill Tower from an accessibility perspective and found that there were quite a few issues that could cause issues for students who require accommodations. The lighting in the building is very dim, which could cause some issues for students with visual disabilities. There is also multiple flights of stairs required to enter the building from the front, making it not wheelchair accessible. The rooms themselves are not very big, and house anywhere from 1-4 people. This could be difficult for students who need accessible walkways and space for equipment. The dorm rooms have shared bathrooms that are often used by 12-14 students living in the suite. The showers have ledges at the entrance and the sinks are at waist-height making it not accessible to those using a wheelchair or other mobility devices. The doors into the rooms and throughout the building are very heavy, which could affect students ability to enter their room with ease. The elevators are very clean and well-lit, but often have many students on them due to high volume of those living in the dorm. The nearest parking is the stadium parking lot, and in order to get from the parking lot to the front door of the tower, you must either use a set of steps or go to the end of the hill and walk up from there. Overall, the building is not very accessible and I would not recommend it for students who need physical...
Read moreI have never been to college, I'm to stupid to go to college especially since part of my Jr yr and all my High School yrs I was in LD classes. I don't want to have to keep taking classes over and over until I pass the classes. If I was to get 100% in all my classes, have the money to go to college I know I would get me an apartment atleast 10 min to even 20 min away. I would not want to be in a dorm or suite w/ 10+ other girls not knowing when I could get a shower, having privacy ect ect. I do know one thing they definitely need to build a large large apt complex near the university. This needs to have about 8 to 10 floors one building for the guys, another building for the girls. These buildings need to be big enough for 1 person having their own room not having a mess of students in each room. Let the students who have been attending the college a few yrs, let them get out of that tower, let them have their own rooms. It would...
Read moreGreat place for making friends and being social, I’m super thankful for the people I met here. The dining hall is also not the best, but it’s very convenient. My two biggest gripes were the location and windows. Obviously I understand why having open windows would be a safety issue, the circulation and lack of natural light in the room sucks though, and there’s really no way to fix that. Additionally, it’s just far from everything, which doesn’t seem like a huge problem at the beginning of the year but it definitely gets...
