As a resident, I have to say that we are blessed with various perks the city offers for all ages and it is a great family, student/ athlete oriented environment. With that said, I have to say that our city should take time to revise parking rules/ regulations. It is understandable that many want to take part of the performing programs during festivals which bring not only citizens but also others who don’t reside here. Due to the 4th of July Run, notices were sent to move our vehicles as our street was part of the run. Our vehicles were moved at 4am in the morning about 2 blocks away from our home. After the Run, many came to barbecue at the park, enjoyed the ongoing activities for kids and entertainment which kept our block packed. Preventing those of us who don’t have the luxury to park inside driveways and relying on street parking, forcing us to keep our vehicle where it was parked earlier. We got a visual of our vehicle today (Monday)at 3 am. At 7:30am our vehicle was nowhere to be found, despite all “what ifs” and several phone calls to various departments, located out vehicle. The police department confirmed our vehicle was considered “ ABANDONED “ at 2:45?! Not sure how as again, got a visual of the car at 3am. Come to find out that in order to get the vehicle we have to pay the following;
1.$92- Release form at the Sheriffs department. $190-City of Commerce fee $ 182.50-Towing Fee $38-Storage Fee per day( does not matter what time)
After Poor customer service calls from the towing services, we are told that “ if we need the vehicle today, we need to pay over $500 as it is after office hours “
How questionable can this be? From who reported this? why weren’t plates verified to confirm the vehicle is in fact Abandoned? Who signed off on this?
I’m not sure how can this be prevented, perhaps having parking permits just like other “model city’s “ do throughout LA. Not sure what qualifies a vehicle “Abandoned “ , if plates were ran by public safety or police officers I can guarantee that our home address would appear to confirm that the vehicle belongs to a resident. This is beyond unacceptable, who will be held accountable for fees listed above? Perhaps vehicle owners that match the the address on file which happens to be 2 blocks away from where the vehicle was reported “ Abandoned “.
I can guarantee that if the vehicle is parked where the raise is taking place, our doorbell will not stop ringing to remove the vehicle.
Perhaps we this can be discussed as it need...
   Read moreA lot of bad attitudes in that city hall, this city cares more for the companies than the residents. I called in one time to city hall to complain of big rig trucks entering and parking in our residential streets to get loaded or unloaded in companies near my home, her response in a rude way was I have to...

The employees should be ashamed of their conduct regarding 1st admendment rights practiced by a good standing citizen. I can only hope she sues for 6...
