Retro Rick’s is a great store and honestly in terms of selection of older titles you’ll find little to no competition in the region. They focus mainly on used titles, while new ones are added they aren’t the priority.
Staff is friendly, store is constantly stocked full and neatly organized.
Pricing on games and consoles will vary depending on markets it seems they update pretty straight forward and competitively based on multiple sources like Price Chart, etc.
My lower rating however, may just be a timing occurrence, but nevertheless comes off a pretty lack luster experience attempting to conduct a trade-in for store credit.
Before bringing in my products for trade-in I approached the staff asking how trade-ins worked. I was told they’d test the products, etc and then it’d go from there. I brought my products in and proceeded to spend approximately 2 hours waiting and never had the products tested as what I wasn’t told initially was that checking out other customers and conducting other tasks was a priority.
The products were never tested and I left. I’d recommend an assessment of procedures, because as a regular customer it really felt bad getting constantly knocked back down the queue because others needed to check out. I wanted to check out as well, but ended up giving up around 2 hours of my time for nothing.
For those visiting, don’t let the 3 star rating knock you, this is a great store with a vast selection and friendly staff. Operating Procedures based on that very poor experience definitely need to be addressed. A trade-in customer is a customer just as any other coming in. I’ll probably not be back for a bit, as I am dissatisfied by the visit.
I would’ve even appreciated a staff member letting me know what was happening rather than myself coming to the realization myself after seeing people constantly coming in and out. Or even blackout dates for trade-ins or specific dates for trade-ins anything would’ve been better than wasting time.
To end on a high-note, definitely visit the store as going in for photo-ops for those not local is...
Read moreGenerally they have done great by me, Manager/Owner really cool, but here recently I got a call for a very particular copy of a game I had been wanting. Golden Cartridged Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the N64 at a price or $29.95. I had been called maybe 3 hours before close, and I was at work. We didn't get out of work in time so I showed up first thing in the morning as soon as they opened on a Sunday, and I was told it went to the next person on the list (there was only two), and they had been called right at close and had from open til close to come and get the game, and knew in advance by a whole day while i only had a few hours notice and couldn't evade work. I tried everything to obtain permission to buy the copy, even checked back right at close to see if it was available as if the buyer hadn't shown up, I could have gotten it. However it had been sold and when adding me to the next waiting list. I was told I would have to buy the next copy at a higher price, because they made a mistake in pricing the other copy which I'm 100% sure the other guy got it for $29. While I am told they would have to check prices on eBay and etc which is atleast around $60 to $100 for a good copy, having to possibly pay twice if not triple for the next copy they get in. That is pure bull, and I genuinely believe I was done wrong in this case, and I hope they might price match to right this, but they probably won't so I'm writing this review now, as pretty frequent customer and supporter of Game point, recommending my friends and bringing them to the store from cities away to see the the place because it is a very unique gamestore. But honestly after this I am in very sour taste and most likely will never shop here again if I don't get a price match for what I was originally told...
Read moreI was in search of an old Nintendo DS lite. To get my kids started on the earlier pokemon games and then work their way up into the newer ones. Since you can play GBA and DS games on the lite. Well after my buddy at Scoop Dog in Little Rock told me to check out Retro Rick’s, I was like who’s that! I found out he had a YouTube channel and I watched a video, needless to say now I can’t stop watching videos my childhood in the 90’s and early 2000’s is definitely something that makes me nostalgic! So I showed my daughter age 10 and my son age 5 his videos our other two daughters ages 2 and 4 don’t really understand but they like games lol. So when we showed up today my daughter was excited to see the store and meet Rick! We told her there was no guarantee that he would be there as business owners ourselves running our own Remodeling company we understand how crazy your schedule can be running a business. Well! The store was awesome! Our youngest was a bit irritated and had to be taken to the car so we didn’t get the chance to walk around as slowly as I would have liked but from our quick walk through and experience it was great! Childhood dreams come true haha, and WE got to meet Rick! He was awesome he told my daughter high and talked to her for a minute she was so nervous haha it’s like meeting a movie star these days! He was super nice really cool and I loved getting to meet him too! We are looking forward to RETRO FEST in October! And I’m looking forward to getting a chance to go back to the store! Amazing staff great place to go and find those nostalgic things your wanting to get back! 100% recommend! THANKS RICK...
