Update:
Then my newest favorite Hibachi in a 75 mile radius became ... dun dun duuuuun... worse then buffet chinese. HOW DARE I! Seriously though, all I expect on a buffet is safe accurate temperature mildly tasty food. They are affordable, quick & easy. You get what you pay for, am I right?
Hibachi time came around. I remembered enjoying the steak the prior visit and decided on the steak, chicken & shrimp combo. The Chef was nice and had new little tweeks to his routine, "I've got to move it, move it" sang through out the restaurant on sporadic occasions by any chef is always good for the soul. (I feel like they should could add some new twist... maybe Hanson? "Mmmm")
As soon as the rice and vegetables started being distributed I was still munching on the WONDERFUL house special sushi roll. It was a little slice of sushi heaven. I felt I needed to thank not only the chefs but the fish. I always wait for them to start dividing up the proteins before I start digging in to my rice & veggies. But there was no more rice or vegetables on the grill. That couldn't mean the 2 carrot slivers, chunk of zuchhini, cube of onion, what must of been mushrooms & the dollop of rice; on my plate couldn't be all I got. The rice part through me for a loop, I look forward to too much rice! ...take it home and eat it again in a few hours...
The Chef puts 6 pieces of shrimp on my plate next to my little sand dune of rice guarding the the kingdom of the lost vegetables. I love me some good blackened shrimp, with creole type of spices. These were black but definitly not on purpose. My medium well steak came and it too had a deep burnt appearance. I went for the shrimp first and was reminded of how much I enjoyed pushing jello through my teeth. I made it through my childhood memory and stabbed the steak. I should of saved it for later because that's about when I finished chewing it. The chicken was arriving on my plate while was in that weird place of deciding between just going for the gold and chewing it out or creating a napkin diversion. The Chef had already walked away so I stopped the waiter on his way back and whispered what was the problem. He said he would see what he could do & came back to let me know they would just remake my order in the back for me so I asked if they could box it up because I didn't want everyone to have to wait. So he did. He brought it out and handed it to me and said they steak & shrimp were in there but the chicken wasn't included because it was cooked right. My plate had already been cleared, with nothing on it being ate. We were happy that they were accomdiating but things just weren't made very clear.
Might try it again... might not with a...
Read moreMy family and I had super at Fuji Steakhouse following my nephew's graduation. We have been here many times over the years and really enjoyed the food and the experience. However last nights visit was not a pleasant experience. To start with the salads was lettuce ONLY and ginger dressing, (no carrots, purple cabbage or purple onion). The dressing was runny and did not taste like ginger dressing, could not even taste the ginger. Some at our table commented that they must be cutting back.
Next the guy came to our table and confirmed our orders. The usually enjoyable experience was just ok. I have ordered steak here many times (It has been a while since my last visit).... the steak literally looked like they had cut it in half, so a steak that was typically 1" thick was 1/2" thick. Some in our group of 8 ordered it cooked medium and some med rare. All of the steak was cooked the same, well done. It was very tough, in fact some of us did not even eat it (those that ordered the combo enjoyed the chicken or shrimp) The vegetables were not fully cooked (The onion was just flat out pretty much raw). In fact a couple that sat with our group had ordered extra onion and they had to request that the onion be cooked more. The rice was not flavorful as it had always been in past visits. The portions were SMALLER and prices HIGHER. They no longer offer 2 sauces as your sides. They no longer offer shrimp noodles with your meal. My steak and chicken combo, with tea and tip that they automatically add on was $32 12. The tip was 18%. Lastly, we agreed that they should inform the group that the tip will be automatically added in, so NO surprises, and especially after the bad food and experience. We don't...
Read moreOooook there's a lot to cover. Atmosphere was good. I sat at a booth and it was peaceful and relatively quiet for all the people there. My entree(steak and shrimp hibachi) came with a few appetizers - namely an onion soup(broth, mushrooms and onion curls) that was uninspiring but still tastey. Shrimp-flavored rice crisps that I enjoyed but couldn't help but assume they came out of a snack sized bag somewhere. And what I find absolutely queer because so many chinese-themed restaurants serve it. A "side salad" that is literally ONLY a bowl of iceberg lettuce and what ever dressing packet you want. Why? Anyways. On to drinks. They don't offer drafts on tap and their bottle selection that was decent. But a place that has the word 'bar' in the name should have a varied selection. Not just a decent one. And definitely not one that is wildly overpriced at almost five dollars per bottle regardless of origin point. My server(Alexis) at least was a treat. Friendly and all smiles who got what I needed for me with prompt service. Should I ever come back I'd ask for her again.
Lastly the entree itself. I ordered from the hibachi despite wanting to sit at a booth(as I am antisocial and would rather not sit at a table full of strangers) and by the time the food got to me it was already luke-warm. I'd like to assume this was because it got made fresh over at the hibachi stations and nobody told my server the food was ready. But somehow I don't think this was the case as I didn't really see the signs on any of the food that it was tossed around on the flat tops. More than likely was prepared in the back. Not hot but still rather tastey with generous portions. But not 20+ dollars...
