Chong's Supermarket — Local services in Coralville

I had a terrible experience at this store. I went in to buy soy sauce, which was clearly labeled as $1.79 on the shelf. However, at checkout, it rang up as $3.29. When I pointed this out to the owner, she told me I "need to be careful" and read the label because it was supposedly for a different brand. But every item on the shelf had the $1.79 tag underneath it. Instead of honoring the price, she simply ripped off the tag and walked away. They have really expanded since I was here years ago. Looks small but has lots of space that is filled with baked and frozen treats. Go there if you love Korean bakery items because their baked goods come from a great bakery in Chicago. Just when you think you’ve seen everything there’s more. Endless rice and ramen options. They have some freshly prepped side dishes and a small section of home goods Wish they had more Kpop, Korean souvenir, ,and memorabilia but prices are reasonable compared to c fresh in Des Moines. I go there to guy Vermont brand curry and the adobo seasoning/marinade. Always super friendly and always finding new things to try. I let my daughter pick out a snack every time we go. There is one older gentleman who works there that always shows her how to open or eat whatever courageous unknown treat she gets. (We call it candy roulette, since most all the packaging is in Chinese, sometimes you have no idea what you're getting lol) Very reasonable, cheap prices....
