We called to have a piano moved on Thursday morning and the morning of they left a message saying they weren't going to be able to do the job. Called multiple times to try to reschedule with them, finally got a call back and set up the move for Saturday at 8am. Saturday at 8am comes and NO ONE SHOWS UP. Sat around waiting for almost 1 hour when I finally receive a text saying, I hope the moving team got a hold of you to let you know that we canceled today due to the weather (snow was in the forecast all week and they scheduled the move anyway). Tried calling the number from the text and no answer. I left a message about how their customer service sucks, that they guaranteed the piano to be here this week, and that I expect the piano to be moved Monday morning as I need it for my job. About 30 minutes after that, the moving people call and leave a message saying "we're not going to be able to move the piano today due to us having some issues with the weather. We can reschedule you for Tuesday. We wanted to apologize, obviously this is the second time we've rescheduled you, but at this point it is what it is." It is what it is??? People have rescheduled their lives and taken off work to be here for the move and according to West Music "it is what it is." Pathetic customer service. This isn't the first time my family and I have experienced West Music's pathetic customer service. I will no longer purchase anything from these people. They treat their customers like garbage and never make any effort to sympathize or attempt to make it right.
You can justify it all you want, but at the end of the day, the way the last cancelation was handled was completely unprofessional, unacceptable, and pathetic customer service. Having to cancel is not the problem; we've been VERY gracious about your continued last minute cancelations. The way we were treated is the problem. Good customer service is within your control and you decided that it didn't matter enough to make sure we were made aware of the cancelation. And for what it's worth, good business is having a backup person to fill in for call outs. We're paying you, you guaranteed the work, and you fell through. Very...
Read moreI've been a West Music customer for decades. I've purchased instruments there, sheet music, microphones, cables, amps, and recording studio equipment. It's really nice having such a full-featured music store in our area. They provide support to local music programs and students in K-12 as well as college students. I can't speak for all local musicians, but I believe some people choose West Music over online shopping as a way to support local business. I recently found an old Clarinet that was probably over 50 years old and it had vintage West Music items in the case back from when the music shop began on South Clinton Street in downtown Iowa City. It was a reminder of how long West Music has been serving our area. I decided to donate the Clarinet as a gesture of appreciation for what the business has done to support music in...
Read moreI am sooooooo disgusted!! We have always bought all of our equipment at West Music. For as far back as i can remember. Like back when it was Carmalous. We went in to look at powered speakers, a new mixer and also looking for a new Martin Guitar. Normally we buy all of our equipment at the Cedar Rapids location, and have for many, many years. but we were in town and figured we could just buy everything there. We walked in and everyone was sitting around doing nothing . Not one person said hello or can we help you. We went to the back room and the gentleman back there treated us like dirt. Like we didn't know anything about equipment. He was so rude. I guess we took him away from his facebook. So needless to say, we bought nothing. We will take our money elsewhere. Worst...
