I have not owned a Hot Tub before, and decided now was the time - a retirement necessity - LoL. My initial impressions of Rick's Spas were - # Large showroom, with a large assortment of makes and models. # We were greeted at the door, and encouraged to ask questions when we were ready. # No sales pressure at all. After we narrowed our search down to four tubs that suited our requirements, we began asking questions. I did a fair amount of research before even going to look, so I began with questions we already knew the answers to - you know - "testing the waters". These guys know everything about every make and model they carry. The pros, the cons, and the reasons why. They do not have a hidden agenda for "pushing" one brand over another. There were several "used" spas on display, but my preference is the same as buying a car....Buy new - you do not want somebody else's problems or leftovers, and common sense tells me that you do not know how the tub was previously maintained or used, and some problems are not initially apparent - so we shopped for new ones. Their prices were on par, with a nice discount for cash purchase on a hot tub. Delivery, cover, steps and start up chemicals are included in the price. This alone set them apart from "other" stores I have been to - who charged for these in addition to the price of the tub. We narrowed our choice down to two tubs , and decided to research both a bit further before purchasing one. We came back the following day - our selection being made. We selected the colors, paid, and were given a 3-4 week window since the tub is manufactured in Oregon and shipped here. The only "hiccough" was - it actually took 5 weeks for the whole process, and I had to call at the 4 week mark to check on delivery status. My spa was delivered and set up exactly 5 weeks after ordering. My only critique is - I should not have had to call Ricks Spas. I am very happy with my Hot Tub, and highly recommend Spa Max (Ricks Spas) to anybody who are considering getting a Hot Tub. You get great prices, large variety, and no "surprise"...
Read moreI had no idea what kind of spa I was looking for when I walked in the door to Spa Max (formerly Rick's Pool/Spa). Fortunately they had a HUGE inventory. Seriously... My legs were getting tired by the time I had walked around to see all the different makes & models of spa's.
The salesperson on the floor at the time was super helpful, I believe his name was Bobby... Anyway, I had all kinds of 'newbie' questions since I hadn't done much research before walking in. I'm the kind of person who very much likes to make my own decisions and don't appreciate being 'sold'. That being said, I'm really glad Bobby made a few suggestions that definitely helped me out. I'm a tall guy, about 6'3". The tub I originally picked looked good to me, but Bobby pushed me towards a less expensive spa! Seriously? Yup. He said that the seats were too shallow in the hot tub I was looking at and that: My knees would come up to my chest when sitting down or I would spread my legs out and interfere with the seating of the person across from me.
I would never have thought of this on my own and I appreciated the non-aggressive, informative approach taken. There were a number of other pieces of information they provided me through the decision making process - too many details to list here, but they definitely know their stuff.
I walked in thinking my budget was for a refurbished tub, which they have TONS of; but after discussing some financing options they were able to get me into a new tub!
It seemed like the refurbs were going for $2k on the low end, to about $5-6k on the higher end. They also had new spa's going for $4k-$15k+. You just need to weigh out what's important to YOU in regards to luxury, room, amenities, etc.
Paperwork, delivery, communication and overall experience? I give...
Read moreI waited to write this review until everything was delivered and up and running. First let me say thank you to everyone working at Spa Max and a big shout out to Frank. From beginning to end he has been great with communication and has put up with my continuous questions.
I ordered my Cal Spa back in the middle of July. I didn't quite fully understand how much the spa industry was impacted by Covid. Orders for spas were through the roof and the factories are all having to scramble to fill orders while still keeping everyone safe and following the regulations. We were quoted an 8 week lead time but warned things could change. They did! Unfortunately the factory sent out multiple delays. Each time frank communicated with me. This was important to me. I understand things happen, especially right now. If I hadn't received that communication I would have been upset. Frank was great. I didn't always get the update I wanted to hear but at least I got something. We always had good conversations.
Finally my time had arrived and my spa was finished. I got my delivery date scheduled. The Spa Max delivery team arrived and went to work. They too were great. They positioned my spa exactly where I wanted and got everything set up. Frank was able to get me some extras as a thank you for being understanding and patient during the longer than usual wait.
The delays taking place right now are not the dealers fault. Manufactures are trying to keep up but it going to be a long road to get there. Be patient everyone. It will be worth the wait.
Thank you again Spa Max for the...
