My mother in-law was a resident at Windsor for 3 years. She was eventually moved to the Alzheimer's unit. As far as facilities are concerned. Windsor for the most part is a good nursing home. The nursing staff & PNA's at Windsor work hard and do an excellent job of taking care of the patients. They are very caring and definitely should be compensated for doing such good work. The administration....ehh...not so great with on-going communication and the "family meetings" are usually several months behind being scheduled. We had issues with her personal clothing, blankets and other, regardless of all the clothing items that we always labeled with my mnlaws name, she would end up with other residents clothes & shoes, even a pair of men's shoes were on her feet. She had two necklaces that ended up disappearing, that she had worn on her neck. No explanation was given. Her hearing aids ended up missing numerous times and we had to have them replaced twice. (I could see that she possibly fiddled with them a few times and might have lost them), but towards the end, she wasn't even aware that she had an aide in her ear, & the replacement hearing aid walked away as well. I asked administration if we could donate her clothing to the facility after she passed and was told, absolutely. Yet, when I went to pick up what was supposed to be 2 small boxes, I found two large boxes stuffed with all of her clothing, 2 boxes as well with personal items....even a few half eaten cookies were tossed in. My complaint was replied with..."our housekeepers" packed everything up. There was no "packing", it could best be described as wadded up and crammed into a box. The housekeeping staff leaves a lot to be desired, lots of personal items just disappeared without any explanation or even an excuse as to their disappearance. My mother in-law also had a history of having multiple UTI issues...which was a big deal for us. When she started showing signs of having a UTI, we/her family would tell staff....and even the Dr. that she should be checked for a possible UTI, but....every single time....they waited several days, sometimes a few weeks...(changing her meds multiple times and finally the Dr. would decide it was time to check her for a UTI). My suggestion, which will fall on deaf ears....listen to the family members of these patients. We know our loved one quite well...and if we hint numerous times to check for a UTI, please don't waste your time or the patients...as well as valuable funds...and run all sorts of unnecessary tests, changing meds etc. only to finally come to the conclusion that a UTI was the culprit. Especially, considering that the elderly are very susceptible to chronic infections. Overall, I'd like to have given a higher rating...especially for the nursing/PNA staff, but with all the other issues, my rating was bumped down to a "meet in the middle" rating. I'd like to end my review on a positive note...We very much appreciated the nursing staff for the over all good care my mother...
Read moreMy mother "slid" out of bed, according to the staff(Kim). What happened was she fell out of bed because they have one cna per hall during the night they would not respond to the call light so my mom fell out of the bed trying to get to the restroom. It tooke then a week to xray her knee replacement, they never check her head even though she complained about a headache. The food they serve the patients is absolutely inedible(I wouldn't give that to my dog) the lady from the kitchen could not even say what the food was. My mom is diabetic they gave her 8 plus ounces of juice, pie and cake that she can't eat cause hello can't have that much sugar. The staff was rude and ugly to her. I put a camera in her room then they were actually human. Shock shock there. I wouldn't allow some back her with out a camera and random daily visits. I had more than one call from my Momma saying she needed help because they would not take her to the restroom. Only one cna was continually nice from start to finish and I can't remember her name. I will never allow the hospital to put my mom here, I hope I can add pictures of the cold(yes everything the patient gets is cold) food i wouldn't give the my dog. They also done have hallway cameras to monitor the staff sitting around on the couches or in the hall on their phones when call...
Read moreThe worst experience Iâve ever had. I broke my back and was brought there late afternoon when no key people were around. I was dumped off in the bed and was never talked to until my husband came And he put me in a wheelchair and took me to the nurses station. I had no pain medication at all. After 15 minutes of discussion, a nurse or a CNA called the doctor and he had to prescribe the medication and I had to wait for it to be delivered.. I do not eat any sugar and they had nothing that was sugar-free. I can only imagine how the diabetics are treated at this establishment. Not one time did someone from the kitchen come in and ask me what I would like to have is my meals. I was given food that I could not eat, and was hungry. The time that I was there. My bed had broken springs and only when I was being discharged, we noticed outside that a truck was bringing in a new bed. A little too late. It was so loud in the hallways outside our door. It was a shared room. We had to constantly close the door to get any rest. I would not recommend this place. There are not many choices of rehabs so if you have to go to this one, I am just warning you of what the...
