I was a regular at this place for 8 years. I have constantly raved about this place and told people that it was the best sushi in town. Which do not get me wrong I completely love their sushi. 4 years ago I noticed a decline in attentive servers. Waiting 30 mins to pay for our meal, waiting and waiting for a server to come around or take notice throughout our meal. I have disregarded those things due to the fact that I love the sushi so much. My recent and last visit was the last week of June. It was my best friend's birthday and she also loved this place. She ordered a sushi roll that had no raw fish on the inside. She has ordered this roll every time we have come and it has always been correct-the way it is on the menu. She let the server know that there was raw fish on the inside and that the sushi roll is not supposed to come that way. She stated that they should be more careful because if she was pregnant this could have caused a more severe issue. The incident was brushed off. The manager came by and tried to tell us that if we do not want raw fish we need to look at the menu and look where it has a raw fish symbol. We both know how to read the menu and we both order the same rolls every time. The roll on the menu does not come with raw fish and we even pointed out. There was no accountability taken and they even laughed at us. They then brought the roll out again, but it did not have the bits on top. (I am unsure what it was as it was her roll that she regularly orders) . It took us three tries to finally get our order right. No apology from the Manager or the Owner. We found out that the Owner was the one making the sushi? How does an Owner not know how their own roll is made? That was very confusing for us to find out. We were not offered any sort of apology except from the server. We were not offered a refund for her meal after the way we were treated, the wait for her food, and the 3 tries it took to get her food. The server tried to apologize for the manager and I told her that the least they could have done was take my friend's meal off after all the trouble that was caused. The server made no attempt to even ask the manager if that was something that they could consider doing. I informed the server that due to this experience and how they made no attempt at recovery, but shifted blame that after 8 years we will no longer be returning. We drive an hour to come visit this place as often as we can and I will say that I will miss it. We would have definitely considered coming back if there was an attempt at recovery whether it was comping her sushi roll or even a...
Read moreTook my husband here for father's day with our two children. I made a reservation on Monday through Google assistant and when I got confirmation the date was wrong. I called five times before they answered the phone, I explained the situation and they said they had no problem changing the mistake. We arrived 10 mins early and they couldn't find my reservation but had no problem seating us. We were told to wait in the corridor, it was so hot and stuffy I couldn't wait for them to seat us. Once we got seated it seemed the waitress was waiting for another family to arrive before even taking our drink order. We ordered our food and we sat and waited and finally after about 10-12 mins our salads came and then another 10-12 mins out very shrimpy soup came. I could not eat it, it was very fishy. After already being there about 30-40 mins we ended up waiting another 30-40 mins before the chef came out. I would have understood if it was busy which with it being Fathers day I am surprised it wasn't. There was only my family and the other family at our habachi table. And maybe 4-5 tables in the table section. It was a very long wait and we were all starving. I have been to many habachi places before and none this long of a wait even super busy. So the chef was entertaining enough but the food was mediocre at best. Hardly any food on the plate, flavor was just weird and overall not an experience I wanted to give my husband for father's day. I had to share my plate with him so he didn't leave hungry which resulted in me being hungry and my husband is a very lean man, It was just not a lot of food. So I gave 3 stars because of them fixing their reservation mishap and for the entertainment of the chef other than that the food deserves 1 star if that.
Oh and if you want a decent sized egg roll I would suggest going else were. The were the size...
Read moreLet me start by saying when the food is good, it's freaking phenomenal. This can definitely be a hidden gem. Over the last 6 months to a year or so, it's been much more disappointing. I order delivery for myself on the Favor App (my partner has a severe seafood allergy so dining here with him isn't an option for us) so I always expect my food to not be as good of quality as what you'd find in the restaurant, and I account for that as I write this post. Guys, I paid $27 for basically an onion, a green pepper, what felt like half a steak and a side of rice. I cross checked their menu, and its the same price as if i'd ordered directly from them. I don't know the weight of steak for my particular dish (saikoro steak) but goodness there was hardly any in my entree this time. My go-to prior to this was the crispy beef with cashew nuts - the last 2 times I ordered it, it had become so soggy by the time it got to me that I couldn't eat it. Usually it was pretty good - not crispy as you would get in house, but not a bowl full of wet, mushy beef either. When it comes to flavor, Rockstar is on point. Unfortunately, due to lack of consistency and quality control, I will probably not be ordering here again. It's too expensive for the quality of food I've been receiving lately. Dining in isn't really an option for me - my partner is a severe seafood allergy, so ordering here was an occassional treat. Hopefully they...
