Itās a rare thing in our divided society to encounter someone like Norman. He performs his job with expertise and knowledge, sureābut more importantly he does it with love. Real love. Not consumerist, stuffing-the-hole-in-our-soul-with-containers loveābut actual, human, honest to goodness love. He goes into The Container Store in Corte Madera every day determined to help people, to serve them, to bring some order to the overflow of stuff many of us over-privileged people drown in. Iām still thinking about him days later.
Iām someone who likes to shop on my own. I donāt like help and have been known to walk out of stores simply because someone offered to help too many times. Norman approached gently and with wisdom. He put himself in my shoes and helped problem solve with me. He spent nearly an hour working out which shelving system I needed for my bathroom. I didnāt even want to spend an hour working out which shelving system I needed for my bathroom. Who wants to spend an hour helping someone with this? Norman does. He truly does. And he dispensed Yoda-like wisdom along the wayāgently nudging me away from the one that would be too big and that would fill with needless crap. Nudging me away from the one that would be too small and inspire territorial battles with my wife over where the blow drier goes. He might have saved my marriage honestly, now that I think about it.
Thenāwhen the ordeal was over and the perfect system paid for, he walked me to my car. We began talking about why he cares so much about his job and how he handles it with such grace. He told me that love is the only thing that matters and that thereās no job too big or small not to fill with love.
Iād love him to run for President, but more than that, I wish we could allāin the million things we do, the encounters big and smallābe...

I must say, this place truly understands the art of organization. As someone who believes that everything should have its designated space, this store is my nirvana. The variety of boxes they offer is staggering ā from tiny trinket boxes to colossal storage bins, they've got it all. It's like a dream come true for anyone who loves to compartmentalize their life!
But wait, it gets better! The closet design center is a game-changer. Crafting the perfect closet layout is now an obsession, thanks to their innovative solutions. It's like creating a personalized, tidy kingdom for your clothes.
Now, let's talk travel and kitchen gadgets. My wanderlust heart leaps with joy at their selection of travel organizers. And oh, the kitchen gadgets! You'd think I've entered gadget heaven. If you've ever dreamed of having an organized, efficient kitchen, this is the place to be.
What surprised me most was how pet-friendly they are. The sight of a section dedicated to pet organization made my heart melt. Fido and Fluffy will be ecstatic!
One little quirk though - there's a constant, rhythmic banging from the ceiling due to a gym above. It's almost like they're trying to tell us something, maybe that we should get in shape after all that organization!
In conclusion, if you're a fellow aficionado of the organized life, the Container Store in Corte Madera is your nirvana. It's the ultimate destination for those who believe in the beauty of boxes, the power of compartments, and the serenity of an impeccably organized existence....
Ā Ā Ā Read more1st time ever going there and honestly I walked out after what seemed like an eternity. Not greeted once the entire time. When i did lock eyes with an associate, I had been juggling a hand full of itemknowledge. I smiled and said hello, she smiled back, and began laughing, Captain obvious pointed out that It looked like I needed a shopping cart..... well thank you captain šI chuckled and agreed with her. As I stood there awkward waiting for her to point me in the right direction or actually grab me one......she didn't do anything just kept going about her task ..... I felt judged because I didn't look like all the yuppie stay at home mom with 3 kids.
My bf told me that I would love the store, and I did! Soo much fun stuff to play and organize with but due to a HORRIBLE staff I'm never going back to...
